Instructions: Read each sentence carefully. Answer the question that follows.

When we ask these questions, here’s what we’re trying to find out:
1. Who - We want to know the person or people involved.
2. When - We want to know the time something happened.
3. Why - We want to understand the reason or cause.
4. Where - We want to know the place or location.
5. What - We want to know the thing, action, or idea.
These questions help us gather specific information and understand the
situation better.

E. Discussing new Game:


Students will practice asking and answering simple questions using Who,
concepts and practicing new What, Where, When, and Why.
skill #2 Materials Needed:
 A soft ball (or any small, safe object to toss)
 A list of simple question prompts (optional, in case students need help)
Instructions:
1. Gather in a Circle: Have the students sit or stand in a circle.
2. Introduce the Question Words: Briefly review the five question
words—Who, What, Where, When, and Why—and explain that they
will be using these words to ask questions about each other.
3. Explain the Rules:
o The student holding the ball will start by asking a question
using one of the question words.
o They can choose any classmate to toss the ball to, who then
answers the question.
o After answering, the student who just answered will ask a new
question and toss the ball to someone else.
4. Example Questions (if they need help getting started):
o Who is your favorite superhero?
o What is your favorite food?
o Where do you like to play after school?
o When is your birthday?
o Why do you like weekends?
5. Continue the Activity: Allow the game to go on until everyone has
had a chance to ask and answer a question.
6. Wrap-Up: After the game, ask students if they learned something new
about their classmates and talk about why asking questions can help us
learn about each other.

Activity 2: Read the short story below. After reading, think of at least five
questions you could ask about the story using Who, What, Where, When,
or Why.

Lily and her friend Sam decided to have a picnic at the park on Saturday. They
packed sandwiches, fruit, and juice. When they arrived at the park, they found
a nice spot under a big, shady tree. While they were eating, a friendly dog
came over to say hello. Lily and Sam shared a few treats with the dog, and they
all had a fun afternoon together.

 Who went to the park?


 Answer: Lily and her friend Sam went to the park.
 What did Lily and Sam bring to the picnic?
 Answer: They brought sandwiches, fruit, and juice.
 Where did they sit in the park?
 Answer: They sat under a big, shady tree.
