Snagit - image
Snagit is a versatile screen capture and recording software available for both Windows and macOS.
Developed by TechSmith, it was originally released in 1990. This tool enhances the basic print screen
functionality, offering a wide range of advanced features for capturing, editing, and sharing
screenshots and videos.
Snagit Capture enables users to capture images or record videos with a variety of methods. These
include options for full-screen capture, selecting a specific region, menu capture, text recognition,
and panoramic captures. Additionally, the software allows users to record videos from a selected
region or the entire screen.
Capture An Image
The orange crosshairs appear. Complete one of the following to select the area to capture:
Region: Click and drag to select the desired area on the screen.
Scrolling: If Snagit detects that it can scroll an app or web page, automatic scrolling arrows
appear. Click an arrow to automatically scroll and capture.

After clicking on the image tab. We can observe the three dropdown boxes named “selection”,
“Effects” and “share”.

Following action will take place after the choosing the option from “Selection” Dropdown box .
Option Description
o Region: Click and drag crosshairs on
the screen to manually select the
area to capture.
o Window (Windows only): Capture a
specific window.
o Fullscreen: Capture your entire
display.
o Grab Text: Select text on the screen
to copy to the clipboard.
o Freehand (Windows only): Click and
drag with the cursor to capture an
area with an irregular shape.

Now click on Dropdown box “share”.
Automatically send the image to a specific app or save to a specific file destination based on the
option selected.
Toggle buttons
We can observe four toggle buttons named “preview in editor”, “copy to clipboard”, “capture cursor”
and “Time delay”.
Button Description
Preview in Editor Open the capture in Snagit Editor to preview, edit, and share the image
or video.
For image captures, the cursor is captured as a vector image that can be
moved, edited, or deleted from the image.
Time Delay Delay
Delay the start of the capture by a number of seconds to allow for
additional setup time before capture for items such as dropdown
menus.
After clicking the Capture button, a countdown appears on the bottom-
right corner of the screen.
Interval
Set an interval of time where Snagit continuously captures images of
the selected area on the screen.
You can optionally choose to discard identical captures if nothing on the
screen has changed.
