Syllabus
ALGEBRA
Factorization, middle-term methods, SridharAcharya method, roots and coefficients,
nature of roots, discriminant, sign of quadratic expressions, polynomials, powers and
degree, division algorithm, remainder and factor theorem, system of bi-variate linear
equations, methods of solution (elimination and substitution), theory of equations
and inequations, indices and base, concept of roots and powers, ratio, proportions,
inverses, successive and compound proportion, componendo, dividend, adendo.

ARITHMETIC
Unitary method, variation, ratio and proportion, percentage, partnership business,
interest and compound interest, increment and compound increment, time and
work, profit and loss, time, distance and velocity, theory of mixtures.

SETS
Equality, subset, proper subset, super set, operations on sets – union, intersection,
difference, complementation, number of elements in a set and union of sets.

NUMBERS
Division algorithm, division with remainder, divisibility, rules of divisibility, different
methods of finding GCD and LCM, Euclidean algorithm, prime factorization of natural
numbers, co-primes, methods of finding prime factors, number of factors.

GEOMETRY
Parallel lines, perpendicular bisector, internal and external angle bisectors, triangle
inequality, inequality in sides and angles, criteria for congruence of triangles,
similarity, mid-point theorems, concurrency, circumcenter, incenter, orthocenter and
centroid, angle bisector theorems, properties of a parallelogram, area theorem of
parallelogram and rhombus, triangles and parallelograms on the same base and
between the same parallels, Apollonius theorem, height and distance.

MENSURATION
Perimeter of trapezium, parallelogram, rectangle, square, rhombus and triangle,
Heron's formula – area of triangles and quadrilaterals, perimeter and area of circles,
surface area and volume of cylinder, cone and cuboid.
