Heat Wave
Heat wave criteria for Goa state (Coastal station) is when maximum temperature departure is 4.50C or more
from normal, Heat Wave may be described provided actual maximum temperature is 370C or more.
Warm Night
Warm Night is considered if maximum temperature of a station reaches at least 37°C or more for Goa state
and Minimum temperature Departure from normal should be ≥ 4.5°C.
To declare heat wave, the above criteria should be met at least in 2 stations in a Meteorological subdivision
for at least two consecutive days and it will be declared on the second day
Heat Index
The heat index is the combination of air temperature and relative humidity, it is a measure of how hot it really
feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature.

• Visibility may become poor due to intense spell of rainfall leading to traffic
congestion.
• Temporary Disruption of traffic due to water logging in roads / leading to increased
travel time.
• Uprooting of trees may cause damages to power sector.
• Possibility of damages to vulnerable structures due to heavy to very heavy rain.
