Internal Advertisement - Motor Vehicle Mechanic
Job Purpose: A motor vehicle mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, servicing and maintaining
motor vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently
Key responsibilities:
• Vehicle Inspection - perform comprehensive inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and other
issues
• Diagnosis - identify problems with engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and other vehicle
components
• Repair and Maintenance - perform repairs and maintenance tasks including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire
rotations, brake replacements, and fluid flushes
• Part Replacement: replace worn or damaged parts such as belts, hoses, spark plugs, brake pads, and filters
• Electrical Systems: troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, batteries, starters, alternators,
and lighting
• Computerized Systems: diagnose and repair complex computerized systems including engine control modules
(ECMs), anti-lock brake systems (ABS), and airbag systems
• Production Support: communicate with production teams to explain repairs, provide estimates, and address
concerns
• Documentation: maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
• Safety Compliance: ensure that all repairs and maintenance tasks meet safety standards and regulations
• Assist in the development and implementation of planned preventative maintenance schedules
• Identify, develop, recommend, and execute key maintenance efficiency drivers to ensure continuous
achievement of set goals and objectives
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required, keep
updated records of preventive maintenance activities and provide feedback to develop the system
• Provide technical support throughout the value chain whenever called upon
• Attending breakdowns, identifying faults and solving problems with minimal downtime to production
• Identify spare requirements and log usage
• Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within
required timescales
• Work within 5S methodology to maintain high workplace standard
• Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage
• Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to supervisor
• Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations
• Make full use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and the W.O system
• Plan and prioritize workload to support production and ensure efficient use of working time
• Log completion of work on all required maintenance management systems
• Ensure that contractors work in accordance with company procedures
• Work in a safe manner complying with all health, safety, and environmental requirements to ensure own and
safety of others
• Handle any hazardous materials in an appropriate manner
• Support to continuous improvement activities
