Special Issue
Modern Technologies as a Manufacture Target in the Near Future

The 8th edition of ModTech International Conference, June 23rd-27th, online edition, was organized by
ModTech Professional Association and “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi as the main
co-organizer.
At this edition the other co-organizers were as follows: Technical Sciences Academy of Romania; The
Society of Powder Technology of Japan; Silesian University of Technology of Gliwice, Poland;
“Alecu Russo” University of Balti, Republic of Moldova; Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Republic
of Moldova; “Vasile Alecsandri” University of Bacau, Romania; "Dunarea de Jos" University of
Galati, Romania; "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, Romania; "Stefan cel Mare" University of
Suceava, Romania; The General Association of the Engineers in Romania and Constanta Maritime
University, Romania.
The participants of the 8th edition were from 23 countries such as: Japan, India, Germany, France,
Poland, Serbia, Republic of Moldova, Netherlands, Croatia, Romania, Mexico, Italy, Ireland, United
Kingdom, Australia, Greece, Turkey, Malaysia, Czech Republic, Iraq, Iran, Spain and Russia.
The ModTech2020 conference got together 151 specialists in the field of modern material manufacture
and processing technologies both from Romania and from other countries with interesting
presentations about the latest information on the research topics tackled by the conference.
The papers presented by the participants both during the three plenary sessions and in the different
sections tackled the following topics: engineering of manufacturing processes; advances in composite
materials and technologies; characterization, modeling and simulation of mechanical processes;
robotics and computer integrated manufacturing; technology transfer; micro- and nano- technologies;
maritime engineering and navigation.
In this special issue of International Journal of Modern Manufacturing Technologies (IJMMT),
forefront research on various aspects of Modern Technologies as a Manufacture Target in the Near
Future is illustrated by selected peer-reviewed papers out of a large number of papers received for the
conference. All of the papers submitted to the ModTech2020 International Conference were first
subjected to examination by at least two independent reviewers prior to the conference. The selected
papers subsequently underwent second round of peer-review. This special issue of IJMMT contains 23
high quality papers selected upon completion of the reviewers comments. The articles included in this
special issue cover a large spectrum on current research activities of engineering, technologies and
materials. We hope that the readers will find the articles of their interest, and thus pursue a more
thorough investigation of the presented problems. We are extremely grateful to the contributors as well
as the reviewers for their whole hearted cooperation and help.
