Narrative Report Community Immersion

March 5, 2012

Courtesy Call at the Barangay


This Monday March 5, 2012, it is our courtesy call to the Barangay Ligaya. We arrived at exactly 8:30 in the morning. We first went to the Barangay Hall and talked to Barangay Chairman Mr. ___________________ about the projects that we are going to implement on that day. After some conversations, the decision was made and we are going to give some groceries and 2 kilos of rice to each of the 10 families we had chosen. We also give unused but still presentable clothes to those families. And last but not the least is the planting of 4 vegetable seeds. To help is our main goal and we have to accomplish it as soon as possible.

Vegetable Planting Activity


Our facilitator Ms. Shilla Dionzon told us to group ourselves into 4 to 6 members per group. After that we went to our proposed family members. We get all the necessary things needed for vegetable planting which are the seeds and plastic. We plant 4 vegetables which are talong, okra, sitaw, and kamatis. We all have hard time especially to the group of Ms. Dionzon because the family member which they visited were not at their house and they waited the Hilario family for almost 1 hour to see them but despite of it we have fun while we are doing this activity. It is exciting because this is the very first time we plant trees.

Giving Groceries
After planting vegetables our activity seems to be more exciting as we go deeper. At this time we are going to give groceries, 2 kilos of rice and unused clothes to each family. We had seen the happiness to their face even life is getting harder. Children were also very happy that our group visited them and the head of the family were very approachable and was trying to invite us for lunch. We really feel the gladness because as a student we are eager to help them by giving and helping them in our own little way not minding the heat of the sun. This time we finished our task early because our group members really cooperate. Feels good for all of us because we can go home with a big smile.

Closing Activity
After our activity our group gathered and shares all their experience and the feelings as we helped other people who are less fortunate. We are very glad and happy because of this activity of SF 2. The essence of team work and the hardworking was build.
