B. Motivation

Direction: The students are going to identify on


how the following instruments are being played.

1. GUITAR - GUITAR
- A stringed instrument with a flat body, a long
neck with frets, and usually six strings that
are played with the fingers or with the pick.

2. RATTLE - RATTLE
- A rattle is a type of percussion
Instrument which produces sound when
shaken.

3. DRUM - DRUM
- The sound of the drum produced by the
vibration of a stretched membrane. Drums
are usually either cylindrical or bowl-shaped.

4. FLUTE - FLUTE
- Flute is a family of a woodwind group. Flutes
make sound by vibrating a column of air.

CLASSIFICATION OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

1. MEMBRANOPHONES
- Produce sound when stretched skin vibrates.

2. IDIOPHONES
- Produce a sound by the vibration of the
actual instruments itself.
- Can be struck, rubbed, shaken or plucked.
- Belongs to the percussion family.

3. AEROPHONES
- Aerophone is a musical instrument produces
There are 2 types of aerophones. sound primarily by causing a body of air to
vibrate.

 Brass
- Brass use air and reeds to vibrate.

 Woodwind
- Woodwind use air and player’s lips to vibrate.
Woodwind are made out of wood or metal, while
brass is made exclusively out of metal or brass.

4. CHORDOPHONES
- Produce sound by vibrating of strings.
- Make sound by plucking or striking the
strings using a pick or the musician’s hand.

or is conventionally produced (as by vibrating
