III.II: MECHANICS OF EVENTS FOR THE MATH WEEK
a.) Math Exhibit
The Math Exhibit is a museum filled with items related to math that could teach the students
broader information about the history and spectrum of math. It is to be conducted in the OMNHS
Feeding Area with an entrance fee of ten pesos from each student who would like to enter the
exhibit.
b.) Math Cinema
Occidental Mindoro National High School
Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro
The Math Cinema will also take place in the OMNHS Feeding Area for the 2nd Day. A movie
with a plot related to math will be shown in the cinema. It will be created by the math club
officers and members within at least four months before the math week celebration by 5:00-5:30
in the afternoon. It has an entrance fee of ten pesos. The movie will take not more than an hour.
c.) Math Games
For the third day, different math games will be conducted. Officers will be divided to
facilitate each game such as the math jail booth, math bingo, math trail/race, and math charades
which will offer small prizes to cheer up our OMNHS students that will take place at the
OMNHS open gym.
Math Jail Booth: Students can pay ten pesos to take someone to the math jail booth with
them. Whoever they choose to be with them in the booth will be given a fake warrant that has a
mathematical problem. If the student will not be able to solve it, he/she will be taken to the
booth. If he/she could solve it, they will not be taken to the booth. And so, a random person will
be asked to enter. While two people are inside, they will be given a mathematical problem to
solve in order to get out of the booth. If they could not solve it in three attempts, they may call
someone they know to solve it for them and get out of the booth.
Math Bingo: Students will play bingo but instead of numbers 1-60 they will need to solve the
equation the speaker will mention and the answer will be the number they mark if they have it in
their card. To win this bingo game you need to have a vertical, diagonal and horizontal with 5
numbers checked. If someone win they will shout "MATH BINGO" so that everyone knows they
already won.
Math Trail/Race: A team of 5 students will go to the stations around the campus that forms a
trail starting from station 1 to station 10. Each station will have a math problem that you need to
solve before proceeding to the next station. Each station will have different types of problems
and as you come closer to the last station the questions will be more difficult. After finishing
answering the problems your team will receive a reward.
Math Charades: Two playing groups will compete from each other. The typical rules of
charades will be applied in this game but the terms to be guessed are all about math.
Matchstick Relay: Two groups of students compete against each other in a race to solve
matchstick puzzles. Each group is given a series of matchstick equations that are incorrectly
arranged. One member from each group steps forward to solve a puzzle by rearranging a set
number of matchsticks to form a correct equation. Once they solve it, the next member takes on
the next puzzle, and so on. The group that solves all their puzzles the fastest earns points for each
correctly solved puzzle. At the end of the relay, the group with the most points or the fastest
completion time wins a prize, such as school supplies or snacks. The game promotes teamwork,
speed, and problem-solving skills!
Grab the operations: The students will pick a person to pair up with and we each have to
give them a bottle with an operation of any kind and they have to play head, shoulders, knees,
and toes, after that we have to scream addition then the person that grabs the bottle will move to
Occidental Mindoro National High School
Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro
the 2nd round and many more rounds to make the final 4, the. we have to make the space larger
for the final four and even larger with the final two and the person to grab the bottle from the two
students playing will be the winner!
Code Switch: Pair 2 groups, each have 9 members, give each member a paper with a number
counting from 0 to 8, after we give each member a number is that we have to give them a code
and the fastest to rearrange themselves by that code will be the winner.
Tangrams: Pair 5 members into one group in _ number of groups, their goal is to use all
seven flat pieces, called tans, to recreate a specific shape. Simply match the outline provided,
ensuring no pieces overlap. And the one to finish first wins!

d.) Math Quiz Bee

For the math quiz bee, there will be an individual category and group category. The
individual category is the first level of the quiz bee. A maximum of six SSC students and one
representative from each section in regular classes will compete per grade level. With an
approximately total of 26 students. Their math teacher will also be their coach for the quiz bee.
They will solve 20 math problems in one hour and will be ranked based on their scores. The top
7 for each grade level will all proceed to the group category or the team finals whereas seven
groups will be formed with one representative from each grade level. Group members are
randomly selected from the top 7 with 6 members each. Whoever gets the highest scores will be
ranked and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placing groups will be awarded. Math teachers will be the one to
supervise the elimination round while the math club officers will facilitate the team finals.
e.) Math Jingle
Each grade level will form a group that consists of not greater than 15 members. They will
write and perform their own jingle about math which should be longer than three minutes.
Performers are allowed to use props, use existing popular song melodies, and design their own
outfit. The jingle may be written in Filipino, English, or Taglish.
f.) Math Film Making Contest
Each grade level will create a short film about math particularly about the theme of the math
week celebration. Cast and crew shall be limited up to 20 members each per grade level. The
film shall not exceed fifteen minutes. Groups are not allowed to film outside the campus or
beyond class hours unless under the supervision of a math teacher who will be responsible for
the students. Aside from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placements, other awards will also be provided such
