Flasher running LED
8.0 Rationale: 555 timer IC is the cheap, popular and precise timing device
used in various applications. It gets the name.
the three 5KΩ resistors that are used to generate two comparator reference voltages.
This IC isoperated as monostable, bistable or an as table multivibrator to produce a
variety of applications.
9.0 Course Outcomes Addressed :
It operates from a wide range of power supplies ranging from + 5 Volts to +
18 Volts supply voltage.
Sinking or sourcing 200 mA of load current.
The external components should be selected properly so that the timing
intervals can be done in several
minutes along with the frequencies exceeding several hundred kilohertz.
The output of a 555 timer can drive transistor-transistor logic (TTL) due to
its high current output.
The longer lead of a polarized capacitor is the positive and the shorter lead is negative.
Connect pin 2 to thepositive end of a capacitor. Connect the negative lead of the capacitor to
the ground of the battery.
Now short the pin 2 to pin 6 of the 555 timer IC.
Connect the output pin 3 with the positive lead of the LED using a 1kΩ resistor. The
negative lead of LEDneeds to be connected with the ground.
Connect pin 4 to the positive end of the battery.
Pin 5 does not connect to anything.
Connect pin 6 to pin 7 using a 470kΩ resistor.
Connect pin 7 to the positive end of the battery using a 1kΩ resistor.
Connect pin 8 to the positive end of the battery.
Finally, connect the battery leads with the breadboard

PART PLAN-B
LED flashers are typically bought in the form of a complete module that has prongs for plugging into an outlet
and extenders for connecting to the circuit. Some LED flashers can also come as an integrated circuit (IC) unit
or chip which requires a power source in addition to connection to the circuit.
Specifications
The rate at which the flasher makes the LEDs turn on and off, expressed inflashes per minute.
Head capacity -:
The number of LEDs per channel that can be driven. The number of LEDs which the LED flasher can
drive is the product of the head capacity and the number of channels.
Number of channels -:
Total number of channels (outputs). Each channel can power several LEDs.
Number of patterns -:
The number of different patterns that can be produced by the flasher.
Output current or lamp capacity -:
The maximum or range of current load per channel, expressed in Amps (A).
Voltage rating -:
The maximum input voltage for the device
Features
LED flashers can exhibit a number of features which may be important to certain applications.
In There are several ways of making an LED Flasher circuit. You can make one using transistors,
microcontrollers, or a 555-timer IC. In this tutorial, I will show you how we can make an LED Flasher
circuit using a 555 Timer IC. This IC creates pulses of current at a specific time interval, and we will use
these pulses to turn the LED on and off, hence it will work as an LED flasher circuit. The time interval of
the pulses can be controlled by changing the value of resistors and capacitors used in the circuit.

Circuit Diagram
The following circuit design explains the design of the blinking LED (Light Emitting Diode) with the
555 timer IC. Here in this configuration, the 555 timer IC has connected in an Astable mode of 555 timer
operation.
Collect all the required components and place the 555 timer IC on the breadboard.
Connect pin 1 of a 555 timer IC to the ground. You can find the pin structure of a 555 timer IC in the
circuit diagram shown above.
The longer lead of a polarized capacitor is the positive and the shorter lead is negative. Connect pin 2
to the positive end of a capacitor. Connect the negative lead of the capacitor to the ground of the
battery.
Now short the pin 2 to pin 6 of the 555 timer IC.
Connect the output pin 3 with the positive lead of the LED using a 1kΩ resistor. The negative lead of
LED needs to be connected with the ground.
Finally, connect the battery leads with the breadboard to start the power supply in the circuit.

nking LED Physical diagram
555 timer IC is used to create time difference in various applications. The Blinking LED circuit uses a
555 timer in astable mode, which generates a continuous output in the form of a square wave at pin 3.
This waveform will turn LED ON and OFF. The duration of ON/ OFF depends on the time cycle of the
square wave. We can change the speed of blinking by changing the value of capacitance.
Connection
Place the 555 timer IC on the breadboard and connect Pin 8 to VCC and Pin 1 to GND
Use a jumper wire to connect PIN 6 and PIN 2 of IC.
Use a jumper wire to connect PIN 4 and PIN 8 of the IC.
Connect 1uF capacitor between Pin 2 and GND.
Connect 1K resistor between VCC and PIN 7 of IC.
Use a 1K resistor to connect the LED to Pin 3.
Connect a 470-ohm resistor between Pin 7 and Pin 6.

3.0 Conclusion
All in all, LED Flasher Circuit with LDR may be a great project for beginners. and
therefore the circuit is straightforward to construct. And with all basic all components
anyone can make the circuit within the home.
