Linear Algebra, Numerical and Complex Analysis


(Maths-II)

1. Linear Algebra:-
a) Vector spaces over arbitrary field, subspaces, linear combination, spanning set, linear
dependence and independence of vectors, basis and dimension of vector spaces, Rank of a
matrix
b) Gauss elimination method to solve system of linear equations
c) solution of system of equations using rank concept
d) Linear transformation, rank-nullity theorem, matrix representation of a linear
transformation
e) Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors of matrices and their properties
f) Diagonalization
g) Cayley-Hamilton Theorem (statement only)

2. Numerical Analysis:-
a) Iterative method for solution of system of linear equations Jacobi and Gauss Seidel method
b) Solution for transcendental equations: Bisection, Fixed point iteration, Newton-Raphson
methods
c) Finite differences, Interpolation, Newton’s forward and backward interpolation formula,
Lagrange’s interpolation formula,
d) Trapezoidal and Simpson’s ⅓ rules for numerical integration, error in numerical
integration

3. Complex Analysis:-
a) Limit, continuity, differentiabilty, Differentiability and analyticity of functions, Cauchy-
Riemann equations
b) line integrals in complex plane, Path independence
c) Cauchy’s integral formula
d) derivatives of analytic functions
e) Cauchy’s integral theorem
