have proposed higher wattage lighting fixtures in consultation with KSEB’s design cell; but after
submission of the design, they reverted the calculation in not approved status as they do not want to
amend their specified wattage luminaries. After a lot of discussion with KSEB engineers, they are agreed
to amend the type and quantities as mentioned in the calculation.
Currently, we are dealing with two new Clients: 1. Apraava Energy Private Limited and 2. Millennium
Challenge Account (MCA)-Nepal (International client). Both Clients have their unique engineering views
which is different from the conventional engineering practice done in PGCIL or any state board. However,
the engineering is being done complying their RfP requirement, Technical specifications and CEA, IS,
IEC, IEEE standards considering optimised engineering being in a same platform with Client.
Quality of documents
All documents are prepared complying RfP, Technical specifications, and IS, CEA, IEC, IEEE standards.
Almost 80% of the documents are approved (Cat-A/Cat-I, Cat-B/Cat-II) in Revision 0 submission; 85%
of the documents are Cat-A/Cat-I in Revision-1; in average 98% of the documents are approved in Cat-
A/Cat-I; beyond revision-2 if any document is approved it can be stated that with this numerous
submission gives us more benefit with respect to Lot contract such as for Karera project, SCF calculation
has approved in revision 4 submission where we have complied the latest IEC requirement as per Client
observations; however, due to optimization of Static tension, Sag and fault clearing time the calculated
outcome of the SCF was below the specified SCF values in PGCIL’s technical specification which is our
standard consideration in structural design for other projects. But in this case we have lot of savings with
the new SCF value in structural tonnage quantities.
For MCA-Nepal project, WAPCOS are issuing only approval or return; no intermediate like Cat-B/Cat-
II/Cat-C/Cat-III are not there. approval is not given even if the comments are nominal or do not affect the
overall design which may be consider Cat-A approved with comments. Final approval on various
documents are awaiting due to the lack of vendor input. Due to the non-availability of vendor inputs to
finalize the drawings 100% is not achievable and final approval is also not coming.
Optimisation in engineering
Savings to company in lot contract:
1. Optimised Control Room Building size;
2. Optimised number of ACB breakers in LT System;
3. Optimised Cable trench by considering the PVC pipes from ISO-MB/CB-MB/CT-MB/CVT-MB
to Cable trench;
4. Considered Sub-ACDB and Sub-DCDB in all SPRs to optimise the power cables;
5. Optimised main earth grid size & spacing.
6. Located substation plot in such manner to avoid or to minimize pile foundations.
7. Instead of using multiple levels we are able to restrict within minimum levels;

8. Optimized Bus duct quantities .
9. For Karera and Neemrana SS we have removed the 765kV Towers from the behind of the
765/400kV Transformers & 765kV Reactors with respect to standard PGCIL’s design;
10. Instead of using of 765kV BPIs and 132kV BPIs, we have considered a combined 765-132kV
Special type tower for the auxiliary bus connection for 765kV Bus & Line Reactors.
11. Optimised the number of building and GIS Building Size keeping the auxiliary busbar outside of
building for MCA-Nepal project
Revenue to company in Rate contract jobs:
1. In engineering, we matched the BPS quantities with engineering as much as possible with
constraint of space and other limitations for PGCIL SS-107

Innovations / development
We will do all new projects using Primtech3D
a) to generate 100% accurate bill of materials;
b) to check any clarence problems in drawing preparation stage which ensures correct design and
engineering.
c) to check whether all clamp, connector and hardware are considered for BOM preparation;
d) to ensuring no clashes available in the layout.
e) to optimized the document delivering time;
f) guide new members to use Primtech correctly.
g) 3D model creations for AIS equipment
As well as please refer the “Optimisation in engineering”.

Adherence to process
We follow the national and international design guidelines, quality check & approval workflows at every
design stage.
Archive all design revisions for internal audits.
We participate actively in regular project team meetings & design reviews to ensure that process
requirements are clearly understood and integrated into project planning.
We ensure that all design deliverables are aligned with project timelines and milestones as agreed upon
in the project schedule.
We maintain effective communication with team members (including other engineers, project managers
& Site team members) to swiftly address any deviations.
Schedule periodic progress updates with the client team to discuss design status, challenges, and process
adherence. Status report on Engineering has been shared with supervisors, HOD (Presidential level) and
Project management team.
Liaise with vendor engineering teams to align on technical specifications, equipment standards, and
quality benchmarks that required for the project.
Interdisciplinary checks are done.
