3) Less than ⇒ <, Greater than ⇒ >, Less than or equal to ⇒ ≤, Greater than or equal to ⇒ ≥.

4) a> 0Read as ‘ a’ is greater than ‘0’ i.e., ‘ a’ is positive.

5) a< 0 Read as ‘ a’ is less than ‘0’ i.e., ‘ a’ is negative.

6) a ≥ 0 Read as ‘ a’ is greater than or equal to‘0’ i.e.,‘ a’ is either positive or zero or we

say that ‘ a’ is non negative.

7) a ≤ 0Read as ‘ a’ is less than or equal to ‘0’ i.e., ‘ a’ is either negative or zero or we say
that ‘ a’ is non positive.

8) If a> b and ‘ k ’ is a positive constant, then

a b
i) a+ k >b+ k ii) a−k > b−k iii) ak > bk iv) k > k .

9) If a> band ‘ k ’ is a negative constant then

a b
i) a+ k >b+ k ii) a−k > b−k iii) ak < bk iv) k < k .

10) If a< band ‘ k ’ is a positive constant, then
