HELP

NOTES ON USING CABLE CALCULATION SHEET

· This worksheet performs cable calculations in accordance with the 16th Edition of the IEE Regulations
for Electrical Installations (BS7671)

· The sheet is designed to and should only be used by engineers fully conversant with cable sizing and
the regulations. It has been written in order that an engineer may perform cable calculations to an
in-depth level without having to use specialist software where details of all data used are not always
given. In this way the engineer can have more confidence in the data used as it has been selected by
his own hand and hand checking can be carried out as all formula used is also given on the sheet.
The sheet does not select the cable size to be used, that is up to the engineer!, it provides all the data
to enable the engineer to make the correct selection and gives results based on this.

· By pressing the TAB key the cursor will be moved to the next cell requiring data.

· Cells that require data entry are highlighted in BLUE

· Clicking on buttons with red crosses adjacent to cells will bring up the relevant data dialog box to enable
a selection to be made.

· Input to a number of cells is by scroll bars or spinners, this is to prevent incorrect data entry of those
items.

· Data from the IEE Regulations has been reproduced for values of Cg, Ca, Ci and K and are shown on
the relevantly named sheets.
