Clefs
A clef is a sign placed at the beginning of the staff determines the exact pitch represented by
each of the letters of the musical alphabet. There are types of clefs. The common two clefs are:
(G- clef or treble clef) and the one is (F-Clef or bass clef).
The G (treble) clef fixes the note ‘G’ on the second line of the staff. In music, the first seven
letters of alphabet are used; ABCDEFG. They are placed on the line or on the space of the staff.
After fixing G on the second line, the other notes are placed on the lines and spaces.
The F (bass) clef fixes the note on the fourth line of the staff. Its head and the two dots above and
below the fourth line of the staff indicate the position of F.
After fixing F on the fourth line, the other notes are placed on the lines and spaces.
