B.Tech 2nd Semester

1. Find the analytic function 𝑓(𝑧) = 𝑢 + 𝑖𝑣, whose imaginary part is given by 𝑣 = 𝑒 (𝑥 sin 𝑦 + 𝑦 cos 𝑦).
2. Find the analytic function 𝑓(𝑧) of which the real part is given by 𝑢 = 𝑒 (𝑥 cos 𝑦 − 𝑦 sin 𝑦). Also find 𝑣
such that 𝑓(𝑧) = 𝑢 + 𝑖𝑣.
3. If 𝑢 = 𝑥 − 3𝑥𝑦 , show that there exists a function 𝑣(𝑥, 𝑦) and find the analytic function 𝑓(𝑧) = 𝑢 + 𝑖𝑣.
4. Show that 𝑢 = log(𝑥 + 𝑦 ) is harmonic and find its harmonic conjugate.
5. If 𝑢 − 𝑣 = (𝑥 − 𝑦)(𝑥 + 4𝑥𝑦 + 𝑦 ) and 𝑓(𝑧) = 𝑢 + 𝑖𝑣 is an analytic function of 𝑧 = 𝑥 + 𝑖𝑦, find 𝑓(𝑧) in
terms of 𝑧.
6. Find the analytic function 𝑓(𝑧) = 𝑢 + 𝑖𝑣, if 𝑢 + 𝑣 = and 𝑓(1) = 1.
7. Verify Cauchy’s Integral Theorem and integrating 𝑒 along the boundary of the triangle with vertices at the
points 1 + 𝑖, −1 + 𝑖 and −1 − 𝑖.
8. Show that ∫ 𝑒 𝑑𝑧 is independent of the path 𝐶 joining the points 1 − 𝜋𝑖 to 2 + 3𝜋𝑖 and find its value.
