Module : Enhancing Productivity with Microsoft Office
Subject Area : Microsoft Word

A practical is an opportunity for students to test and apply their understanding of the
concepts and ideas introduced in lectures. "Practicals" are called this because they are the
place where the "theoretical" knowledge gained in lectures and readings is put into practice.

Practical (2 Hours)

Follow the following instructions to prepare the given assignment.

1. Text
i. Type the text “ESOFT Metro Campus – Available Courses”

ii. Perform the following formats


(a). Click on “Home” tab
● Use “Font” group for the followings
- Select “Font”
- Select the required Font ( Eg: Times New Roman )
- Select “Font Size”
- Select the required Font Size ( Eg : 20 )
- Select “B” for bold
- Select “U” for underline
● Use “Paragraph” group for the following
- Select “Center”

2. SmartArt
i. Insert the SmartArt
(a). Click on “Insert” tab
(b). Select “SmartArt” from the group “Illustrations”
(c). Click on the “Cycle” tab at the left pane

(d). Double click on the required SmartArt category (Eg: Basic Radial )

ii. Add two additional circles to the SmartArt


(a). Right click on any circle
(b). Select “Add Shape”
(c). Select “Add Shape After” or “Add Shape Before”
(d). Repeat the same steps to add another circle

iii. Type the text given within the circles


(a). Click on each circle
(b). Type the relevant text
(c). For newly added circles
● Right click on the circle
● Select “Edit Text”
● Type the text
(d). If necessary, to change the font size
● Select the text that you have entered
● Select “Home” tab
● Select the required font size from “Font Size”

iv. If necessary, to resize the SmartArt


(a). Select the SmartArt by clicking on it
(b). Move the mouse pointer to a SmartArt corner
(c). When the mouse pointer changes to double head arrows, click & drag to the
required direction

v. If necessary, to change the color of the SmartArt


(a). Select the SmartArt
(b). Click on the Contextual tab called “SmartArt Tools” appeared on the title bar
(c). Select “Design” tab
(d). Click on the “Change Colors” button on the “SmartArt Styles” group
(e). Select the set of required colors

3. Text
i. Move the cursor to the required location

ii. Type the text “Refer the following table for more details”

iii. Perform the following formats


(a). Click on “Home” tab
● Use “Font” group for the followings
- Select “Font”
- Select the required Font ( Eg: Times New Roman )
- Select “Font Size”

- Select the required Font Size ( Eg : 20 )
- Select “B” for bold & “I” for Italic

4. Table
i. Insert a table
a) Select “Insert” tab
b) Click on the “Table” button on “Tables” group
c) Select the required number of rows & columns by moving the mouse pointer (Eg: 4
columns & 7 rows)

ii.Perform the following formats for the first row of the table
a) Select the first row (4 cells)of the table
b) Select “Home” tab
c) Select the required Font (Eg: Times New Roman), Font Size (Eg: 16) & “B” for bold
from “Font” group
d) Select “Center” from “Paragraph” group

iii. Type the four column headings as “Course Code”, “Title”, “Fee” & “Duration”
Note: Use “Tab” key to navigate among the cells of the table

iv. If necessary, to resize a column or a row


a) Move the mouse pointer to the required column border or row border
b) Click & drag to the required direction

5. Check the spellings & the grammar of the document


i. Select “Review” tab
ii. Click on the “Spelling & Grammar” button at the “Proofing” group
iii. Correct the Spelling & Grammar

6. Save the document


i. Select “File” tab
ii. Select “Save”
iii. Select the required location (drive & folder) to save the file
iv. Type the file name
v. Click on the “Save” button

7. Print the document if needed


i. Select “File” tab
ii. Select “Print”
iii. Select the number of copies

v. Change the page settings
vi. Click on the “Print” button
