Upholding Our Responsibility to the Gospel

Opening Texts: Matthew 24:12-14

1 Thessalonians 2:4 (KJV) – "But as we were allowed of God

to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as
pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts."

1 Timothy 1:11-12 (KJV) – "According to the glorious gospel

of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. And I
thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he
counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry."

Colossians 1:25 (KJV) – "Whereof I am made a minister,

according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for
you, to fulfil the word of God."
Introduction

✓ The gospel is the greatest treasure entrusted to believers. It

is not just a message but a mandate to uphold.
✓ Faithful servants of God throughout history have preserved,
proclaimed, and protected the gospel, ensuring its purity.
✓ As ministers and believers, we are called to seven key
responsibilities:
1. Declare the Gospel
Psalm 68:11 (KJV) – "The Lord gave the word: great was the
company of those that published it."

Acts 4:33 (KJV) – "And with great power gave the apostles
witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace
was upon them all."

Mark 16:20 (KJV) – "And they went forth, and preached

every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the
word with signs following. Amen."

1 Corinthians 9:16 (KJV) – "For though I preach the gospel,

I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea,
woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!"

✓The gospel is not to be hidden or compromised—it must be

declared with boldness, power, and conviction
Ways to Declare the Gospel:
✓ Preaching – Public or personal evangelism.
✓ Writing – Books, articles, tracts, and online messages.
✓ Music & Arts – Gospel songs, plays, and creative
expressions.
✓ Technology – Using media, social platforms, and digital tools.

Every believer must find their voice in declaring the gospel.

2. Develop the Gospel
Titus 1:5 (KJV) – "For this cause left I thee in Crete, that
thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and
ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee."

Acts 19:9-10 (KJV) – "But when divers were hardened, and

believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he
departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily
in the school of one Tyrannus. And this continued by the space
of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word
of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks."

Luke 10:1 (KJV) – "After these things the Lord appointed

other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face
into every city and place, whither he himself would come

✓The spread of the gospel is not just about preaching—it

requires structure, strategy, and sustainability
How to Develop the Gospel:
✓ Establish Gospel Infrastructure – Christian schools, Bible
colleges, and training centers.
✓ Expand Ministry Platforms – Media houses, social media,
and literature.
✓ Train the Next Generation – 2 Timothy 2:2 – "Commit
thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

The gospel must not stop with us—it must be built, expanded,
and entrusted to the next generation.
3. Donate to the Gospel
Luke 18:28 (KJV) – "Then Peter said, Lo, we have left
all, and followed thee."
Acts 2:44-45 (KJV) – "And all that believed were
together, and had all things common; And sold their
possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as
every man had need."
1 Corinthians 9:14 (KJV) – "Even so hath the Lord
ordained that they which preach the gospel should live
of the gospel.
✓The spread of the gospel requires sacrifice and
commitment.
Ways to Donate to the Gospel:
✓ Time – Volunteering in ministry and evangelism.
✓ Finances – Supporting missions, church planting, and
media outreach.
✓ Skills – Using professional expertise to aid kingdom work.
✓ Influence – Leveraging social and political platforms to
advance the gospel.

Kingdom work thrives on sacrificial giving, and every

believer has something valuable to offer.
4.Dominate with the Gospel
Revelation 11:15 (KJV) – "And the seventh angel sounded; and there
were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are
become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign
for ever and ever."

Matthew 28:18-19 (KJV) – "And Jesus came and spake unto them,
saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."

Acts 19:20 (KJV) – "So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed."

✓The gospel is not just meant to be preached; it is meant to prevail and

transform societies.

Areas of Gospel Dominion:

✓ Media & Communication – Controlling the narrative with truth.
✓ Politics & Governance – Raising godly leaders.
✓ Technology & Innovation – Creating platforms for the gospel. ✓
Business & Economy – Wealth for kingdom advancement.
What Ministers Need, to Dominate:
✓ Wisdom – Proverbs 8:15-16.
✓ Strategic Positioning – Placing believers in key sectors.
✓ Unity – The Church must work together to influence the world.

The gospel is designed to shape nations, and believers must take their
place in influencing the world for Christ.
5. Do the Gospel
Matthew 7:21 (KJV) – "Not every one that saith unto
me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven."
Titus 2:7-8 (KJV) – "In all things shewing thyself a
pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing
uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that
cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part
may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you."
Philippians 1:27 (KJV) – "Only let your conversation
be as it becometh the gospel of Christ."
✓The gospel is not just about what we say but how we
live.
How to "Do" the Gospel:
✓ Integrity – Living by godly principles in all dealings.
✓ Love & Compassion – Treating others as Christ
would.
✓ Faithfulness in Service – Commitment to kingdom
work.
The gospel is most powerful when it is lived out daily.
6. Demonstrate the Gospel
Acts 10:38 (KJV) – "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing
good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God
was with him."

Matthew 5:16 (KJV) – "Let your light so shine before men,

that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father
which is in heaven."

Acts 9:36 (KJV) – "Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple

named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this
woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did

✓ The gospel is more than words—it must be seen in action

Ways to Demonstrate the Gospel: 2 Tim 1:7
✓ Power – Healing, deliverance, and supernatural interventions.
✓ Love – Feeding the hungry, helping the poor.
✓ Wisdom – Solving societal problems through divine insight.
The gospel must not only be heard—it must be seen and
experienced.
7. Defend the Gospel
Philippians 1:17 (KJV) – "But the other of love, knowing that I am set
for the defence of the gospel."

1 Peter 3:15 (KJV) – "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and
be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason
of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear."

Jude 1:3 (KJV) – "Ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was
once delivered unto the saints."

How to Defend the Gospel:

✓ Through Sound Doctrine – Teaching biblical truth against deception.
Tit 1:9
✓ Through Bold Preaching – Standing firm despite opposition. 2 Tim
4:2-4
✓ Through Holy Living – A Christlike life is a defense against
accusations. 1 pet 3:15

✓ Through correction and discipline; Gal 2:11-14

✓ Using reason and scripture to address doubts. Acts 17:2-3

The gospel must be boldly proclaimed and firmly defended.

Conclusion
2 Timothy 4:7 – "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have
kept the faith."

May we be faithful stewards of the gospel until Christ returns.
