CBMA ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND FINANCIAL LITERACY SEMINAR
THEME: COMMUNITY-DRIVEN LEARNING: FINANCIAL AND ENTREPRENEURIAL
EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SPIRIT VOLUNTEERISM
CBMA combines high-quality academic programs with hands-on learning experiences and
community engagement, ensuring students are prepared for real-world challenges. With access to
modern facilities and guidance from experienced mentors, students gain practical insights that
complement their academic knowledge. Beyond professional preparation, CBMA also fosters a
sense of social responsibility, encouraging students to contribute to the betterment of their
communities.
Ms. Michelle Charlene D. Chua, who works as Assistant Mall Manager at SM City Rosales,
brings her experience in operations, administration, and financial planning to the table. With over
ten years in the field, she draws on her psychology degree from Saint Louis University and her time
with the SLU Glee Club to connect with students on a personal level. Her talk was truly inspiring
and encouraged us to take control of our financial future. She shared practical tips on how to spend
wisely, save efficiently, and start investing, which really resonated with me and motivated me to
think more critically about my financial habits.
On the other hand, Ms. Fatima Andrea Sanchez Cruz, a Trade and Industry Specialist at
DTI, delivered an equally impactful session. She provided invaluable insights into starting and
growing a business, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities within the business
landscape in the Philippines. What stood out to me was her emphasis on staying adaptable and
maintaining a growth mindset, which I found incredibly relevant in today’s dynamic environment.
Her interactive approach allowed us to brainstorm business ideas, assess market needs, and learn
how to craft strong business plans, making the session both engaging and practical for anyone
looking to venture into entrepreneurship.
One of the standout sessions was led by Ms. Michelle Charlene Chua, Assistant Mall
Manager at SM City Rosales. She shared practical tips on budgeting, smart spending habits, and
achieving financial independence. Her personal story as a working student added depth to her
message, and her statement, “To get rich, you have to be making money while sleeping,” truly
struck a chord with me. It motivated us to rethink our financial habits and aim for financial stability.
Another highlight was the presentation by Ms. Fatima Andrea Sanchez Cruz, a Trade and
Industry Specialist from the DTI. She delved into the realities of entrepreneurship in the Philippines,
addressing key topics like MSMEs, market trends, and challenges. Her interactive session
encouraged us to brainstorm business ideas, understand market demands, and develop actionable
business plans. It was an eye-opening experience that made the path to entrepreneurship feel
achievable and exciting.
The seminar concluded with an inspiring message underscored the importance of financial
literacy and entrepreneurial thinking in shaping future business leaders. By the end of the event, I
felt empowered with practical tools, valuable insights, and a greater sense of confidence to face
financial and entrepreneurial challenges. This seminar was a testament to CBMA’s dedication to
nurturing skilled and socially responsible professionals. It left a lasting impact on me and reinforced
the importance of using what I’ve learned to make meaningful contributions in my chosen field and
community.
This seminar made me realize that financial literacy and entrepreneurship are about much
more than earning money—they're about creating opportunities, making informed choices, and
managing risks responsibly. It inspired me to approach financial stability and entrepreneurial
ventures with careful planning, discipline, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Overall, the seminar had a lasting impact on me. It reinforced the importance of equipping
myself with the right knowledge and tools to succeed, not only for my personal growth but also to
contribute meaningfully to my community and future endeavors. I truly appreciate CBMA’s
dedication to nurturing skilled professionals and fostering a culture of empowerment and
responsibility.
