incoming and outgoing shipments of goods and materials in a supply
chain.

goods or services to accomplish its goals.
Purchasing department is responsible for obtaining the materials, parts, and
supplies and services needed to produce or provide a service.

- Involves a detailed examination of a supplier’s policies and
capabilities.
- The process verifies the supplier meets or exceeds the
requirements of a buyer
