OFFICE MEMORANDUM
2. lt has come to notice of this Department that a few pet owners are
facing various difficulties on account of lack of requisite documents after
importing pets into India for quarantine clearance. Therefore, henceforth, the
final "No Objection Certificate" by the concerned Animal Quarantine and
Certification Service (AOCS) shall be issued to imported pets (pet dogs and
cats) at the port of entry itself. ln case, any disease symptom(s) is/are found
during physical examination at Port of Entry, the quarantine of imported pets
shall be done at concerned AQCS. All such cases of quarantine of imported
pets will be reported to DAHD with details and justifications. The information
will be addressed to Secretary (AHD), AHC and JS(Trade).

5. The Standard Procedures and formats will come into force with
immediate effect. However, the comments / suggestions on the SOPs are also
invited from the stakeholders / importers for further improvisation, if any. The
comments / suggestions (if any) may be sent to this Department within next 30
days of its display on website of DAHD and AQCS by email only at
qaoan.qaro@nic.in.

1. Minimum 07 days before embarkation, the application form (Annexure 1.1) will be
submitted through email / physically by the applicant.
2. After examining the uploaded forms, Advance No Objection Certificate (NOC-Annexure
1.2) will be issued by the concerned Animal Quarantine & Certification Station (AQCS)
within 1 working day along with parameters to be examined on arrival (Annexure 1.3).
1. The AQCS’s Officer will carry out physical examination of the dog(s) as per the prescribed
format (Annexure 1.3) at the port of entry.
2. In case the dog(s) is/are found sound and healthy (as per the Annexure 1.3), final NOC
(Annexure 1.5) will be issued at the port of entry itself.
3. In case the dog(s) fails to clear physical examination or exhibits clinical signs of diseases
mentioned in format at annexure 1.3, it will be taken to the Quarantine Station and will
remain under quarantine for 15 days.
1. Everyday examination record (Annexure 1.4) will be maintained and testing will be done as
per annexure 1.3. If any signs/symptoms will be found, the same will be recorded or
updated online. The applicant will bear the charges for testing.
2. Final NOC (Annexure 1.5) will be issued in case negative test reports are obtained for the
dog(s) under quarantine.
3. In case of the positive testing reports or if the pet dies of disease, deportation/Post –Mortem
and incineration will be done at the cost of owner.
Note: If owner of pet(s) is unable to visit Animal Quarantine & Certification Services personally
for the purpose of obtaining No Objection Certificate (NOC), physical examination of dog(s) etc.,
he/she may authorize his/her representative (Annexure 1.6).

Process for Importing Pet Dog(s) into India under Transfer of Residence- Ease

Advance No Objection Certificate for Import of Pet dog(s)
Dear Applicant,
This is in reference to your application for Advance No Objection certificate for import of
Dog(s) into India on ………….. from …… by …………….Airlines. After vetting the copies of Veterinary
Health Certificate, other health document and the declarations, this office does not have any objection in
importing the Pet dog(s).
a) This permission may be cancelled on the basis of any indication of disease threat on or before the date of
arrival. No additional feed will be allowed with the animal(s).
b) The pet dog(s) will be examined at port of entry. In case, the health status of the pet dog(s) is/are found

Pre Arrival Requirements:

2. In case the pet is found sound and healthy (as per the Annexure 2.3); final NOC
(Annexure 2.5) will be issued at the port of entry itself.

mentioned in format at annexure 2.3, it will be taken to the Quarantine Station and will
remain under quarantine for 15 days.

Standard Operating Procedure for Import of Equine(s):
Pre-Arrival Requirements:
1. Minimum 07 days before embarkation, the application form (Annexure 3.1) will be
submitted through Email by the applicant.
2. After examining the uploaded forms, Advance No Objection certificate (NOC (Annexure
3.2)) will be issued by the concerned Animal Quarantine and Certification Services
within 1 working day.
1. The Equine(s) will be taken to the Quarantine Station and will remain under quarantine
for 30 days.
1. Everyday examination record (Annexure 3.3) will be maintained and testing reports
(against Dourine, AHS, EVA, Glanders, EIA and CEM) will be updated online. CEM
will be tested twice i.e., on 4th and 11th day. The applicant will bear the charges for
testing.
2. Final NOC (Annexure 3.4) will be issued in case negative test reports (as per Annexure
3.1.1) are obtained for the Equine(s) under quarantine.
3. In case of the positive testing reports, deportation will be done at the cost of owner. If
Equine(s) dies, Post –Mortem and destruction will be done at the cost of owner.
*As per notification S.O. 1495(E), 10.06.2014, Live animals are allowed to be imported
in Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi except for pet animals.

Process for Importing Equine(s) into India-Ease of Understanding

Veterinary health certificate for import of horses or other equidae into India,
(**As published in Gazette Notification S.O. 752 (E), dated 5th October, 2012 and
subsequent amendment vide in Gazette Notification S.O. 185 (E), dated 21st March, 2013)
1. General requirement: The horse or other equidae shall be accompanied with a valid passport
or if the horse or other equid is not originating from countries not issuing passport, it must be
accompanied by a complete history sheet with an identification certificate duly authenticated by
an official veterinarian of the exporting country.
2. In the case of thoroughbred horses, import shall be allowed for the purpose of breeding, polo
and sports only and not for purpose of racing.
3. Testing requirement:
(1) The horse or other equidae shall come from a country, -
(i) where the African Horse Sickness Virus (AHSV) has not been reported for the last two years
preceding the exportation;
(ii) free from African Horse Sickness Virus (AHSV) when African Horse Sickness (AHS) is a
notifiable disease in the whole country, systematic vaccination is prohibited, importation of
equids and their semen, oocytes or embryos are carried out in accordance with Chapter 12.1 of
Terrestrial Animal Health Code of World Organization for Animal Health (OIE);
(iii) where the horse or other equidae have not travelled to or through any country infected with
African Horse Sickness for the last two years preceding the exportation;
(iv) with a certificate of veterinary authorities certifying the horse or other equidae -
(a) have not shown any clinical signs of African Horse Sickness (AHS) on the day of
shipment;
(b) have not been vaccinated against African Horse Sickness (AHS) forty days immediately
preceding the exportation;
(c) were protected from culicoides attacks at all time when transiting through an infected
zone.
(v) where Contagious Equine Meritis (CEM) has not been reported during the last twenty
months preceding the exportation.
Provided that the import of the horse or other equidae from Contagious Equine Metritis
(CEM) infected country shall be allowed if the horse or other equid have been kept in an
establishment or farm (by whatever name called) which is free from Contagious Equine Metritis
(CEM) for three years preceding the exportation and the horse or other equidae have not been
mated during last thirty six months preceding the exportation:
Provided further that if the horse or other equidae has been mated within an establishment or
farm (by whatever name called), they shall test negative from Contagious Equine Metritis
(CEM) on three consecutive occasions each not less than seven days intervals for stallions and
pregnant mares, and on three consecutive oestruses for non-pregnant mares.
(vi) After undergoing pre-export quarantine for necessary testing as per Table annexed to the
veterinary health certificate, prior to the export.
(2) The horse or other equidae shall be imported only through the International airports at Delhi,
Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai or any other airports notified by the Central Government from
time to time.
(3) The importer shall submit all the test reports after completion of the tests indicated at the
Table along with a copy of health certificate to the Regional Officer or Quarantine Officer of the
Animal Quarantine and Certification Services attached to the airports, seven days (relaxable up
to three days I pressing circumstances) prior to the embarkment and shall obtain No Objection
Certificate (NOC).
(4) The horse or other equidae shall be allowed to disembark only on the receipt of an original
No Objection Certificate (NOC).
4. Special Requirement - No horse or other equidae shall be imported into the country unless
certified by a certificate of health in English language signed by an official veterinarian licensed
and accredited by the exporting state or country in which a physical examination of the same
was made as per the below mentioned Form.

Metritis (CEM) for the last thirty six months preceding the shipment have been mated and tested
negative for Contagious Equine Metritis (CEM) and other pathogens on three consecutive
occasions each at an interval of not less than seven days for stallions and pregnant mares and
three consecutive oestruses foe -non-pregnant mares, on the basis of culture tested on swabs
collected from prepuce, urethra, vagina and cervix, as the case may be.

(3) the horse or other equidae has been kept in establishment for three months preceding the date
of exportation, where no infectious or contagious diseases including Epizootic Lymphangitis,
Ulcerative Lymphangitis, Trypansoimiasis, Dourine, Equine Piroplasmosis, Equine
Rhiopneumontis, Equine Encephlomyelitis (including Eastern and Western encephalitis),
Venezuelan Encephalomyelitis, Equine lnfluenza, Equine Infectious Anaemia, Potomac Horse
Fever, West Nile Virus infection and Vesicular Stomatitis has not been reported and no such
disease have been occurred on any adjoining premises during the same period of time.
(5) the horse or other equidae has been vaccinated with Equine Influenza virus vaccine and the
last such vaccination shall not be less than fourteen days immediately preceding the exportation.
(6) the horse or other equidae has been found to be free from ectoparasites and have been treated
with antihelminths.
(7) the horse or other equidae being exported has been kept in isolation in an approved
Government quarantine station and subjected to the following tests in Table with negative results:

certified.

Post-import Quarantine:
(i) On import into India, the horse or other equidae shall be kept in quarantine for minimum
period of thirty days at the Government Quarantine Station. -
(ii) During the quarantine period, the horse or other equidae shall be subjected to standard culture
and serological examination for any disease as deemed necessary by the Government.
iii) In the case Contagious Equine Metritis (CEM) minimum two consecutive samples drawn at
seven days interval to be tested negative.
(iv) In the event of any horse or other equidae found positive or doubtful certification from the
exporting country for any exotic disease, the same shall be deported back to the country of origin
or destroyed at the quarantine station as deemed fit at the cost of the importer.
(v) All costs of the above mentioned tests conducted in India to be borne by the importer.

days prior to shipment and showed no clinical sign of AD on the day of shipment;

c) was isolated in the establishment of origin or a quarantine station, and were subjected to a
serological test to the whole AD virus, with negative results, on two occasions, at an interval of
not less than 30 days between each test, the second test being performed during the 15 days
prior to shipment.
the animal showed no clinical sign of ASF on the day of shipment and were kept in an ASF free
country or zone since birth or for at least the past 40 days.
The live animal showed no clinical sign of TGE on the day of shipment; and either
a) come from an establishment in which no case of TGE was reported during the 12 months
prior to shipment; and
b) showed negative results to a diagnostic test for TGE during the 30 days prior to shipment, and
were kept isolated during this period; or
c) come from a country in which TGE is officially notifiable and no clinical case has been
recorded in the previous three years
b) were kept in a country, zone or compartment free from CSF since birth or for at least the past
three months;

were kept since birth or for the past three months in a CSF free compartment;
3) have not been vaccinated against CSF, nor are they the progeny of vaccinated sows,
unless there are means, validated in accordance with the Terrestrial Manual, of
distinguishing between vaccinated and infected pigs. or
(i) If the country (name of the country) is not free from Porcine Reproductive and
Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) virus:
a) the animal has been sourced from the zone (name of the zone free from PRRS virus).
or,
b) has been obtained from the establishment (name and address of the establishment)
that are free from PRRS for last two years and the establishment is under continuous
surveillance programme by the veterinary authority of the exporting country. All
biosecurity measures are undertaken in the establishment as per the OIE principles.
(7) Porcine Brucellosis (Brucella means the Brucella species as defined in Terrestrial
Animal Health Code):
showed no clinical sign of infection with Brucella on the day of shipment; either
b) originate from a herd in which a statistically valid sample of the breeding pigs, selected in
accordance with existing Terrestrial Animal Health Code of OIE., was tested within 30 days
prior to shipment, demonstrating the absence of infection with Brucella; OR
c) were isolated for 30 days prior to shipment and all pigs in isolation were tested for infection
with Brucella within that period with negative results.
The animal has been sourced from the establishment which has not reported Porcine Epidemic
Diarrhoea for last 40 days and no animals from PED infected establishments was introduced in
such and establishment from where the animals were sourced for export to India.
(8) The animal has been quarantined in government approved pre-export quarantine premises for
a period of not less than 30 days or till completion of the last tests mentioned below:-
10) During the pre-export quarantine period each pig has been subjected to the following
treatment:
a) Internal parasites twice using broad spectrum anthelmintic effective for both cestodes
and nematodes approved by the country of export.
b) External parasites using the parasiticidal dip or spray at the time of entry in to quarantine
station and again immediately prior to departure from the quarantine premises.
c) The pig(s) have been treated twice with any broad spectrum antibiotic 14 days apart and
the first being within 48 hours of entering into pre-export quarantine.
11.) Within 48 hours of the pigs entering and leaving the pre-export quarantine premises, the
animal(s) were examined and found free from any clinical evidence of infectious and
contagious diseases and ecto-parasites and is fit to travel.
(12) The vehicle in which the animal(s) were transported from the approved pre export
quarantine premises to the port or airport of departure was cleaned and disinfected with a
disinfectant approved by the appropriate veterinary authority.
(14) Are examined clinically on the day of departure and found properly grown for age and
are below three months of pregnancy and are found suitable for transport.
(15) The crate(s) (wooden or of impervious material), in which the pigs are exported is/ are
new, unused and have been thoroughly cleaned & disinfected.

POST IMPORT REQUIREMENTS:
1) On arrival in India the consignment and the documents in original will be examined by the
Regional Officer/Quarantine Officer.
2) The animal shall be kept under quarantine in Government Quarantine premises for a period of
30 days.
3) They shall be subjected to clinical examination and other tests as indicated at clause (9) by
the Quarantine Officer for evidence of any contagious and infectious diseases, endo and
ectoparasites. In case of positive findings, appropriate action as per the conditions laid down in
notification S.O. 1496 (E) dated 10th June, 2014 shall be taken by the Department of Animal
Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying , Government
of India at the cost of importing agency.
4) The hay, straw and feed accompanying the pigs must be destroyed by incineration on arrival
in India.

The Country/ zone and compartment is free from Foot and Mouth Disease (SAT 1,2,3 and C)
with vaccination and the animals fulfills the requirements as prescribed in Article 8.8.11 of
Terrestrial Animal Health Code of OIE, or
(b) the Country is not free from FMD but the FMD strain is prevailing in the Country other than
(O,A and Asia 1) and the Official Control Programme in Place recognized by OIE. The animals
sourced from the Country/Zone that fulfills the requirements as prescribed in Article 8.8.12 of
Terrestrial Animal Health Code of OIE.
(a) The Country/zone is free from PPR and the animals were kept in the PPR free country and
zones for 21 days before shipment and showed no symptoms for PPR on the day of shipment,
or;
(b) the Country or zone is not free from PPR and the animals fulfil the requirements as per
Article 14.7.10 of Terrestrial Animal Health Code of OIE.
E. Contagious Agalactia
The animals showed no clinical sign of contagious agalactia on the day of shipment and were
kept since birth or for the six months prior to shipment in an establishment where no case of
contagious agalactia was officially reported during that period; and also were kept in a
quarantine station for the 21 days prior to shipment.
G. Border's Disease
The animals were sourced from the Country or Zone or compartment free from Border's disease
and the animals have not shown the shredding of virus when tested with RT-PCR before
entering into the pre-export quarantine.
The animals were sourced from the country or zone free from RVF and the animals fulfil the
requirements as prescribed in Article 8.15.7 or the animals sourced from the country or zone not
free from RVF and the animals fulfils the requirements of Article 8.15.8 or 8.15.9 as the case
may be.
(i) The animals showed no clinical sign of caprine arthritis/encephalitis on the day of shipment;
(ii) animals over one year of age were subjected to a diagnostic test for caprine
arthritis/encephalitis with negative results during the 30 days prior to shipment; or
(iii) caprine arthritis/encephalitis was neither clinically nor serologically diagnosed in the sheep
and goats present in the flocks of origin during the past three years, and also that no sheep or
goat from a flock of inferior health status was introduced into these flocks during that period.
(i) The animals were kept in a CCPP free country since birth or for at least three months and the
animal showed no signs of CCPP or
(ii) were subjected to a complement fixation test for CCPP with negative results, on two
occasions, with an interval of not less than 21 days and not more than 30 days between each test,
(iii) were isolated from other domestic goats from the day of the first complement fixation test
until shipment;
(iv) were kept since birth, or for at least the past 45 days, in an establishment where no case of
CCPP was officially reported during that period, and that the establishment of origin was not
situated in a CCPP infected zone;
(1) The animals remained since birth, or for the previous two years, in establishments where no
EAE was diagnosed during the past two years;
(3) were subjected to a diagnostic test for EAE with negative results within the 30 days prior to
shipment
Or
The flocks from where the animals have been sourced are free from EAE and satisfies the
following:
(2) all sheep and goats showed no clinical evidence of EAE infection during the past two years;
(3) a statistically valid number of sheep and goats over six months of age were subjected to a
diagnostic test for EAE with negative results within the past six months;
(5) no sheep or goat has been added to the flock since 30 days prior to the flock test referred to
in point 3) above unless:
(a) either the additions were isolated from other members of the flock in the establishment of
origin for a minimum period of 30 days and then were subjected to a diagnostic test for EAE
with negative results, before entry into the new flock; or
L. Maedi-Visna
(1) the animals were sourced from the country free from Maedi Visna.
(2) animals over one year of age were subjected to a diagnostic test for maedi-visna with
negative results during the 30 days prior to shipment;
(3) maedi-visna was neither clinically nor serologically diagnosed in the sheep and goats present
in the flocks of origin during the past three years, and also that no sheep or goat from a flock of
inferior health status was introduced into these flocks during that period.
M. OVINE EPIDIDYMITIS (Brucella ovis)
(1) the animals come from a sheep flock free from ovine epididymitis;
(2) for sheep over six months of age, the animals were isolated in the establishment of origin for
the 30 days prior to shipment and were subjected to the diagnostic tests for Brucella ovis (B.
ovis) with negative results; or
(3) for sheep from a flock other than that stated in point (1) above, the animals were isolated
prior to shipment and were subjected to the diagnostic tests for B. ovis with negative results on
two occasions, with an interval of 30 to 60 days between each test, the second test being
performed during the 15 days prior to shipment.
(1) were kept since birth, or for the past 21 days, in an establishment where no case of sheep pox
and goat pox was officially reported during that period, and that the establishment was not
situated in a sheep pox and goat pox infected zone; or
(2) were kept in a quarantine station for the 21 days prior to shipment;
(3) have not been vaccinated against sheep pox and goat pox; or
(4) were vaccinated using a vaccine complying with the standards described in the Terrestrial
Manual not less than 15 days and not more than 4 months prior to shipment (the nature of the
vaccine used, whether inactivated or modified live virus, and the virus types and strains included
in the vaccine shall also be stated in the certificate).
O. Blue Tongue
(1) the animals were kept in a country or zone either free or seasonally from bluetongue since
birth or for at least 60 days prior to shipment; or
(2) the animals were kept in a country or zone either free or seasonally free from bluetongue for
at least 28 days, then were subjected, with negative results, to a serological test to detect
antibodies to the BTV group and remained in the free country or zone until shipment; or
(3) the animals were kept in a country or zone either free or seasonally free from bluetongue for
at least 14 days, then were subjected, with negative results, to an agent identification test, and
remained in the free country or zone until shipment; or
(a) were vaccinated, at least 60 days before the introduction into the free country or zone, from
which they are to be exported, against all serotypes demonstrated to be present in the source
population through a surveillance programme as described in Articles 8.3.14. to 8.3.17.;
(c) remained in the free country or zone for at least seven days until shipment;
AND
(5) if the animals were exported from a free zone within an infected country, either:
a) did not transit through an infected zone during transportation to the place of shipment; or
b) were protected from attacks from Culicoides in accordance with point 2 of Article 8.3.13. at
all times when transiting through an infected zone; or
P. Anthrax
(1) The animals were kept for the 20 days prior to shipment in an establishment where no case of
anthrax was officially declared during that period; or
(2) were vaccinated, not less than 20 days and not more than 12 months prior to shipment in
accordance with the Terrestrial Manual.
(1) infection with M. tuberculosis complex in animals is a notifiable disease in the entire
country;
(2) the goats showed no clinical signs of infection with M. tuberculosis complex on the day of
shipment;
either:
a) the goats have been kept since birth in herds in which no case of infection with M.
tuberculosis complex has been detected for the past three years; or
b) have been isolated for at least six months prior to shipment including protection from contact
with any reservoir of M. tuberculosis complex and all isolated animals showed negative results
to at least two consecutive tests carried out at a six month interval, with the second test
performed within 30 days prior to shipment.
c) The animals have been kept in an Government Approved quarantine for at least 30 days or till
the diagnostic tests are completed before shipment to India and during the quarantine period the
animals are under the supervision of Government Veterinarian of the exporting country.
(d) The animals have been subjected for examination for the following diseases with negative
result in each case within the last 45 days prior to entering the pre export quarantine and/or
within the last 30 days prior to exportation while in the pre export quarantine:
01 Maedi Visna ELISA (in case found positive confirm with RT-PCR)
** All the test report should be made available to the importer and quarantine officer.
(h) During the pre-export quarantine the following the treatment has been provided:
1) Internal Parasites using approved broad spectrum anthelmintic according to the manufactuers'
instructions (if not already given);
2) Liver Fluke using the Flukicides according to the manufacturers' instructions; and
3) External Parasites (including Ticks) using the approved parasiticidal dip or spray according to
the manufacturers' instructions.
4) while in the approved quarantine premises the animals were given two injections of broad
spectrum antibiotic.
5) Within 48 hours of the sheep entering and leaving the pre-export quarantine premises the
animals were examined and found free from clinical evidence of any infectious and contagious
diseases as mentioned above and ecto parasites.
7) Were protected from insect vectors during quarantine and transportation to the place of
shipment.
(i) The animal(s) were transported in pens/containers from the approved quarantine premises to
the place of embarkation as well as pens in the aircraft have been cleaned and disinfected before
loading to government approved standards.

POST IMPORT REQUIREMENTS:
1. The import will be subjected to fulfillment of the procedure as mentioned in S.O. 1496 ( E)
dated 10 th June, 2014.
2. The animals shall be kept under quarantine in Government Quarantine premises for a period
of 28 days and subjected to clinical examination. The quarantine officer shall carry out those
tests where there is requirements or specific certification has not been provided or for evidence

AQCS___________
1. Minimum 07 days before embarkation, the application form (Annexure 15.1) will be submitted
through Email by the applicant.
2. After examining the uploaded forms, Advance No Objection certificate (NOC-Annexure 15.2)
will be issued by the concerned Animal Quarantine and Certification Services within 1 working
day.
On Arrival at the Port of Entry
1. The poultry will be taken to the premises approved by DAHD for in house quarantine and will
remain under quarantine for 30 days.
1. Everyday examination record will be inspected and testing reports (for HPAI) will be updated
online. Samples will be drawn under the supervision of concerned quarantine officer. The
applicant will bear the charges for testing.
2. Final NOC (Annexure 15.3) will be issued in case negative test reports are obtained for the live
poultry(s) under quarantine.
3. In case of the positive testing reports, deportation/euthanization will be done at the cost of owner.
If live poultry(s) dies, destruction will be done at the cost of owner.
*As per notification S.O. 1495(E), 10.06.2014, Live animals are allowed to be imported in
Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi except for pet animals.

The undersigned Official Veterinarian certifies that the day-old poultry described above were
examined on this day, which satisfies the following requirements:
In case of day old live poultry/ live poultry (other than day old live poultry)
1. the day old live poultry were kept in an avian influenza free country, zone or
compartment or free from infection with high pathogenicity avian influenza viruses (as
the case may be) in poultry since they were hatched.
the day old live poultry were derived from parent flocks which had been kept in avian
influenza free country, zone or compartment or establishment (as the case may be) for at
least 21 days prior to and at the time of collection of eggs;
2. The live poultry (other than day old poultry) were kept in an avian influenza free
country, zone, or compartment since they were hatched or for at least the past 21 days.
3. The day old poultry, live bird/ hatching eggs were come from an establishment which
are free from avian mycoplasmosis and from hatcheries which comply with the
standards referred to in Chapter 6.4 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (Article
10.5.4 and Article 10.5.5 of TAHC)
4. (i) The day old poultry, live bird were come from an establishment which are regularly
inspected by the Veterinary Authorities and from hatcheries which comply with the
standards referred to in Chapter 6.4 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code
(ii) The day old chicks have been vaccinated against Infectious Laryngo-Tracheitis (ILT)
and Infectious Bronchitis (IB) (provide nature of vaccine used and the date of
vaccination) or have not been vaccinated;
a) come from establishments and /or hatcheries which are recognized as being
free from ILT and IB (based on serological results)
5. The day old live poultry were kept in New Castle Disease (ND) free country, zone, or
compartment since they were hatched or the poultry were derived from parent flocks
which had been kept in ND free country, zone or compartment for at least 21 days prior
to and at the time of collection of eggs; or
6. The live poultry (other than day old poultry) were kept in an ND free country, zone, or
compartment since they were hatched or for at past 21 days.
7. The day old bird comes from establishments and /or hatcheries which are recognized as
being free from fowl typhoid and pullorum disease.
(a) the eggs came from an avian influenza free country, zone or compartment and the eggs were
derived from parent flocks which had been kept in an avian influenza free country, zone or
compartment for at least 21 days prior to and at the time of the collection of the eggs; or
(b) the eggs came from a country, zone or compartment free from infection with high pathogenicity
avian influenza viruses in poultry and were derived from parent flocks which had been kept in an
avian influenza free establishment for at least 21 days prior to and at the time of the collection of
the eggs and have had their surfaces sanitized (in accordance with Chapter 6.4 of the Terrestrial
Animal Health Code )
(c) have been disinfected in accordance with the standards referred to in Chapter 6.4 of the
Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
(d) came from establishments and/or hatcheries which are recognized as being free from ILT &
IB and from Hatcheries which comply with the standards to in Chapter 6.4 of the Terrestrial
Animal Health Code.
(f) the hatching eggs were derived from parent flocks which had been kept in ND free country,
zone or compartment for at least 21 days prior to and at the time of collection of eggs and the
eggs have had their surfaces sanitized (in accordance with Chapter 6.4 of the Terrestrial Animal
Health Code)
(g)In case of hatching eggs, the eggs have been disinfected in accordance with the standards
referred to in Chapter 6.4 and come from establishments and /or hatcheries which are recognized
as being free from fowl typhoid and pullorum disease and from hatcheries which comply with
the standards referred to in Chapter 6.4 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (Article 10.7.4
and Article 10.7.3).
9. If the parents of the G.P. Stock (day old poultry/eggs) to be imported have been
vaccinated against Avian Influenza, the same has to be indicated along with the name of
the vaccine, manufacturer and date of manufacture and the date of vaccination.
10. Day old poultry/ live birds/ hatching eggs are transported in new or appropriately
sanitized containers or packaging materials (as the case may be).
