UNIT 1: SAY HELLO!

I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Remember and read the alphabets
- Ask and answer about their names
- Spell their names

III. PROCEDURES

The structure: What’s your name?
My name is…
- Give the S the usage of the structure: This
structure is used to ask and answer about names
- Read aloud the structure and give the meanings
in Vietnamese
- Ask the S to take note the structure on the
notebook
- Ask the S to answer the question “What’s your
name?”
- Let the S ask the T to answer the question
“What’s your name?”
- Give feedback
Spell the names
- Instruct the S how to spell a name: use the
alphabets and spell each letter in the name
- Ask the S to read the alphabets again
- Spell name of the T as an example for the S
- Ask the S to spell their names
- Give feedback
While- Task 1. Hello! Say, spell and write names. - Do the exercises
teaching - Ask the S to look at the slide through the T’s - Practice the knowledge
- Review for the S the structure “What’s your instructions they have learnt in “pre-
name?” teaching” stage
- Give the S an example: the T introduces the - Interact in English as
- Interact in English with the
name of him/her by using the structure “My name much as possible
is…” and spell it T to improve reflection
- Ask the S to give their name and spell it
- Give feedback
Task 2. Know your letters!
- Play “The alphabets song” and ask the S to listen
and repeat
- Ask the S to look at the slide and read the letters
appearing in the picture
- Give the S some new words

+ Red
+ Blue
+ Black
- Play the tape for the S
- Ask the S to listen and note down the letters they
hear
- Check the answer and give feedback
Task 3. Draw a red line (a-z) from the baby
spider to its dad
- Ask the S to tell the alphabets in the right order
again
- Ask the S to find the location of the letter “a” in
the table (the location of baby spider)
- Ask the S to draw a red line from the letter “a”
to the letter “b”, from “b” to “c” … until touching
the letter “z” in the table in the right order in the
alphabets
- Check the answer and give feedback
Task 4. Listen! Draw a line from the baby frog
to its mom
- Ask the S to find the location of baby frog
- Play the tape for the S
- Ask the S to listen and draw a line matching the
letters they hear
- Check the answer and give feedback
Task 5. What’s this? Write the words
- Ask the S to look at these animals and tell the
name of them in Vietnamese
- Ask the S to look at the letters beside the
pictures
- Ask the S to read aloud these letters
- Ask the S to write the words under the pictures
based on these letters
- Check the answer and give feedback
Task 6. What’s the animal?
- Ask the S to look at the first letter in each
animal’s name
- Recall the new words by read aloud them
- Ask the S to fill in the gap the letters left of the
animal’s name
- Ask the S to look at the animals and tell the
names of them
- Check the answer and give feedback
Post- Play a game: Can you make a word? - Listen to the T and - Help the S to remember the
teaching - Give the letters in wrong order play the game new words deeply
- Ask the S to arrange these letters to make a
meaningful word
Wrap up - Summary the lesson - Listen to the T- Let the student remember
what they learnt and practice
- Homework - Do homework at at home
