• JEE Main:
• Purpose: Serves as the preliminary examination for undergraduate engineering
programs across NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions. It
also acts as a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced.

• Paper 1: For B.E./B.Tech courses.
• Paper 2: For B.Arch/B.Planning courses.
• Format: Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical-type questions.
• Duration: 3 hours for each paper.
• Attempts: Candidates can attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years.
• 2024 Statistics:
• Approximately 1.415 million candidates registered for JEE Main 2024, marking an
increase of about 300,000 from the previous year.
JEE Advanced
• JEE Advanced:
• Purpose: This exam is for admission into the IITs and a few other prestigious
institutions. Only candidates who qualify in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE
Advanced.
• Structure:
• Papers: Two compulsory papers.
• Format: A mix of MCQs and numerical-type questions, designed to test analytical and problem-
solving skills.
• Duration: Each paper is 3 hours long.
• Attempts: Candidates are allowed a maximum of two attempts in consecutive years.
• 2024 Statistics:
• Out of 186,584 registered candidates, 180,200 appeared for both papers in JEE Advanced 2024.
• A total of 48,248 candidates qualified, resulting in a qualification rate of approximately 26.77%.
