Notes:-

The Contractor shall refer to the following


notes, which have been described or implied
in the Specification and which he will be
held to have included in the Tender Sum.

A) The provision of labour, materials,


goods and costs in connection therewith
including tests on materials, pile driving
and welding plant, etc. the provision of
followers if necessary, transportation,
dismantling and removing and all wastage on
piles

B) Normal wet or inclement weather

C) Idle or standing time for labour and


plant

D) Joints, splices, as may be required for


the system of piling used, excluding
splices for extension piles

E) Replacement of defective, damaged,


wrongly aligned, misdriven or faulty piles

F) Redriving of up-heaved piles

G) Unless approved by the Engineer, use of


followers is not permitted

H) Use of piling frame that is acceptable


to the local authorities

J) Pay length for driving of piles shall be


the length between the toe of the pile and
the platform level.

K) Pay length for supply of pile shall be


the length between the toe of the pile and
the designed cut-off level. Where cut-off
sections are with the approval of the
Architect/Engineer or his authorised
representative reused as extension piles,
payment shall be allowed for handling,
pitching, driving and jointing only but not
supply of piles.

L) All piles are required to be surveyed by


Licensed Surveyor using only Electronic
Survey Equipment. Only after the positions
of driven piles have been surveyed by
Licensed Surveyor and acknowledged by Clerk
of Work then they are payable.

M) Driving of extension piles shall include


for any number of extension, i.e. first,
second, third of any subsequent extension
as instructed by the Architect/ Engineer

N) It is anticipated that piles will be


driven from the ground level. Should it be
necessary, however, to drive piles from a
different level the unit rates inserted in
the Schedule of Works will still apply

P) Cart away all pile heads and defective


piles off the Site

Q) Marking the length of the pile at


internals of 300mm in white paint

R) The Contractor shall provide the details


of 200mm x 200mm reinforced concrete pile

S) Minimum Concrete Grade of Reinforced


Concrete Piles to be 50N/mm2.

T) The Contractor shall provide the details


of piling frame

U) The Contractor shall provide the


certification of accuracy of hydraulic ram
loading

V) The Contractor shall be responsible for


the adequacy of supply pile lengths for the
whole piling works. All surplus lengths of
pile not used for the Works will not be
paid and Contractor shall remove all
surplus lengths piles from the Site at his
own expenses

W) If any pile is rejected, either due to


its poor workmanship, materials for
whatever reasons UNACCEPTABLE as derived by
the Architect/Engineer or due to any other
causes, it shall be competent for the
Architect/Engineer to order an additional
test as approved by the Architect/Engineer.
The Contractor shall NOT be entitled to any
claim and Extension of Time and the cost of
testing.

X) Piles which may be broken, out of


alignment/deviated due to underground
condition/pinnacle bedrock or unforeseen
ground condition including replacement
piles and enlargement of pilecaps should be
paid for and shall be added in the Contract
Sum. The Architect's/ Engineer's discretion
on this matter shall be final.

Y) All unset piles due to soil conditions


which is to be determined by the
Architect/Engineer, shall be payable.
However, all unset piles (due to any other
reasons other than the soil conditions) and
the consequential replacement piles and
enlargement of pilecaps shall not be
payable. The Contractor is to bear for all
these unset piles, replacement piles and
the enlargement of pilecaps entirely at his
own cost. The EXTRA cost due to the
enlargement of pilecaps to be carried out
by a separate Contractor shall be deducted
from the Contract Sum. The decision on this
matter by the Architect/Engineer shall be
final.

Z) Dewatering to keep the site dry shall be


deemed to be included in the rates.

Piling Equipments

A Allow for the provision of all necessary


piling plant and ancillary plant,
transporting to the Site, erection, fuel,
labour and consumable store during use and
dismantling and removing off the Site on
completion of the Works ITEM - -

A Allow for the movement of the piling frame,


plant, equipment and tools on and site as
often as necessary for the proper execution
of the Work under this section and
including all necessary excavation for
stage platform that may be entailed for the
movement of the piling frame, plant,
equipment and tools and any other necessary
associated filling in and ramming including
the provision of hard standing platform for
the mounting of piling frame, plant,
equipment and tools and piling at different
levels ITEM - -

B Allow for preparation and submission of


records in triplicate of all piles
installed including load testing, duly
signed by the Contractor and his Registered
Professional Engineer or his appointed
representative and deliver to the Engineer
as the work proceeds ITEM - -

C Allow for the submission of as-built plans


(at cut-off levels) of all piles installed,
prepared and endorsed by Licensed Surveyor
upon completion of piling works for
statutory submission purpose. As-built
survey plan by approved Licensed Surveyor
shall be submitted progressively at every
three (3) months and the final complete
survey drawing shall be submitted
immediately upon completion of the Entire
Works ITEM - -

D Preparation and submission of 2 copies of


technical reports including soft copy for
the piles tested, pile ECC, pile
penetration length and including
endorsement by a Registered Professional
Engineer ITEM - -
