OVERVIEW

This document provides comprehensive details of all customer-supplied items that can be used with your new
Embed Card System. All equipment has been categorized into the following four main areas:
1. Computer Hardware - Contains all the computer hardware details and specifications for the
Server and other PCs
2. Embed POS and Other Related Hardware - Detailing the hardware used at a POS station
such as a touchscreen receipt printer, RedPro hardware etc
3. Server Rack and Components – Outlines the server rack and components installed in the
rack for networking the Embed system
4. Related Software – Describes necessary software for remote support and credit card
processing
In some cases, you may have some existing modern hardware in place you may want to use. In most instances this
is possible, but we ask that you discuss the specifications with one of our qualified engineers to ensure suitability
for the task

COMPUTER HARDWARE

Configuration
The Embed Card System (ECS) Server is multitasked with functions such as file sharing, system management and
data import/export. The configurations proposed are the most cost-effective balance between system redundancy
and cost. The configuration of the hard disk drives are such that one disk failure will not interrupt normal
operation; and the configuration optimizes the performance of the SQL Database ensuring linear performance, no
matter how busy your location gets.

The Device Communication PC controls all communications between the server and game devices. The ECS
Manager software is installed on the Manager PC. Here you will be able to setup products and generate reports.

Note: If your location is approaching 200 swiper devices and you want to retain all transactional data for more
than 2 years, you will require at least the standard edition of SQL Server 2008 R2 or later plus client access license
for each device accessing the network. It is strongly recommended you get a minimum three years ‘on-site’
warranty for all parts and labor for all computer hardware.

Note: The server rack is the central point of the Embed System. This rack houses the ECS Server, Game
Communication PC, network switches etc. There are two general options for the server rack- 42 RU or 18 RU. The
larger 42 RU rack offers a secure option with locking doors and sides; while the smaller 18 RU rack can house all
rack components at a more economical cost.
