Summary of exam requirements


PIECES
Candidates perform a balanced programme of three pieces, chosen from the complete list in the syllabus. An own composition may be played
instead of one listed piece.

TECHNICAL WORK
- Either scales & chord knowledge or exercises

SUPPORTING TESTS
Any TWO of the following:
- Sight reading
- Aural
- Improvisation
- Musical knowledge

• Practice aural tests can be found in Aural Tests book 1 (Initial-Grade 5) from 2017 (TCL 015808)

This book co ntai ns everyth ing needed to prepare for the performance and
technical work components of a Trinity Electronic Keyboard Initial exam.

All ten performance pieces have been composed or arranged specifically


fo r t he keyboa rd , and encompass a wide range of styles - from classical
favo urites to TV, film or show themes. The 'own interpretation' piece allows
t he candidate to create a personal arrangement. choosing their own voices,
style, keyboard funct ions and interpretation. Also included are the scales,
chord knowledge and exercises that form the technical work component of
th e exam .

This series provides progressive steps in performance and keyboard


functions for all electronic keyboard students, whether preparing for a
Trinity exam or studying on another path.
