DIGITAL GRADES: TECHNICAL WORK


Candidates prepare either section 1 or section 2 or section 3.
Choice of technical work should be indicated on the submission information form.
All requirements are contained in Trinity’s book Electronic Keyboard Pieces & Technical Work 2019-2022: Grade 5.
Further information is available in the graded syllabus.
Either
1. KEYBOARD EXERCISE, SCALES & CHORD KNOWLEDGE SET A
All requirements should be performed.
KEYBOARD EXERCISE (music may be used)
B♭ or B major - Candidates should play one of the specified scales in the RH, accompanied by chords I, II, IV, V and VI
in the LH, as illustrated in Electronic Keyboard Pieces & Technical Work 2019-2022: Grade 5.
SCALES & CHORD KNOWLEDGE (from memory)
• B♭ major
• B minor (candidate’s choice of either harmonic or
melodic or natural minor)
hands together
• Mixolydian scale on B two mf min.
• Chromatic scale in similar motion starting on any octaves legato ♩ = 110
black note
• B♭ major pentatonic left hand, swung rhythm
• Blues scale on B right hand, straight rhythm
• B♭°7 in root position left hand
• B7 in second inversion right hand
• B♭m7 in third inversion right hand
• Chord progression of I-VI-IV-II-V -I in B minor
7 left hand

illustrated in Electronic Keyboard Pieces & Technical Work 2019-2022: Grade 5.
• B♭ major, B major or B harmonic minor
(ii) EXERCISES
Candidates choose and perform two exercises.
1. Gym Workout keyboard functions exercise
2. Open Country scalic exercise
3. Baroque Swing pianistic exercise
