Course Name Entrepreneurial Behavior and Competencies


Course Credits 3 units
Course Description
This course covers the characteristics of entrepreneurs, and develop communication skills in order to become a good
negotiator and learn basic management and leadership skills in identifying viable opportunities, methods of establishing
a business, business valuation and managing the business systems of a small business.

Course Outcomes After the completion of this course, students should be able to:

1. Use critical thinking skills to identify and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities, manage risks and learn from the
results of evaluating that process.
2. Understand the process that enables entrepreneurs with limited resources to transform a simple idea into a
sustainable success.
3. Understand and apply fundamental aspects of entrepreneurial thinking across disciplines and as a means of
personal development.
4. Establish goals, identify resources and determine the steps required to address those goals.
5. Use critical inquiry skills to identify, interview and generally build relationships with local innovators,
entrepreneurs and other community leaders.
6. Make effective oral presentations pertaining to the project based work.

Policy on Cheating: All students are required to be academically honest. Cheating, lying, and any other unethical behavior will result in
disciplinary action. Students found guilty of cheating or plagiarism in submitted course requirements will earn a 5.0 grade on the individual
assignment or quiz for the first offense and a 5.0 grade on the entire course for the second offense. Plagiarism is described as the act of utilizing
another person's book, notes, or other intellectual property without properly crediting the author or portraying the work as one's own. Cheating is
defined as obtaining assistance during a test, copying tests, assignments, reports, articles, or technical papers, and collaborating with other
students during an examination or in a technical paper; preparing academic work; writing another student's name on an attendance sheet; or
engaging in other academically dishonest behavior.

Policy on Absences: The allowed number of absences for all students is 7 (not succeeding). Request for excuse absences or waiver of absences
must be presented upon reporting back to class. Special examinations will be allowed only on special cases, such prolonged illness. It is the
responsibility of the student to monitor his/her tardy incidents and absences that might accumulate leading to a failing grade.
