How to set a static IP address on Windows and Mac

Windows PC:
1. Open Control Panel: Open the Windows Start menu and click on Control Panel.
2. Network and Sharing Center: Click on Network and Sharing Center.
3. Change adapter settings: In the Network and Sharing Center, click on Change
adapter settings.
4. Properties: Right-click on your network adapter and select Properties.
5. Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4): Click on Internet Protocol Version 4
(TCP/IPv4) and then click on Properties.
6. Use the following IP address: Select the "Use the following IP address" option.
7. Enter IP address: In the IP address field, enter the static IP address that you want to
use. For example, 192.168.1.100.
8. Subnet mask: In the Subnet mask field, enter the subnet mask that corresponds to
your IP address. For example, 255.255.255.0.
9. Default gateway: In the Default gateway field, enter the IP address of your router.
For example, 192.168.1.1.
10. Preferred DNS server: In the Preferred DNS server field, enter the IP address of your
DNS server. For example, 8.8.8.8.
11. OK: Click on OK to save your changes.
12. Restart: Restart your computer to apply the changes.

macOS:
1. System Preferences: Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
2. Network: In System Preferences, click on Network.
3. Advanced: Click on the gear icon at the bottom-left of the window, and select
Advanced.
4. TCP/IP: In the Advanced section, select the TCP/IP tab.
5. Configure IPv4: In the Configure IPv4 section, select the "Using DHCP with manual
address" option.
6. IP address: In the IP address field, enter the static IP address that you want to use.
For example, 192.168.1.100.
7. Subnet mask: In the Subnet mask field, enter the subnet mask that corresponds to
your IP address. For example, 255.255.255.0.
8. Router: In the Router field, enter the IP address of your router. For example,
192.168.1.1.
9. DNS server: In the DNS Server field, enter the IP address of your DNS server. For
example, 8.8.8.8.
10. OK: Click on OK to save your changes.
11. Apply: Click on Apply to apply the changes.
