to satisfy most of the needs of our users. For a better understanding, please refer to the below matrix, to

5. Installation

5.1. Regular Installation


The S32K3xx Development Package shall be installed on S32 Design Studio for S32 Platform using
the S32DS Extensions and Updates wizard.
To install the package:
1. Launch S32 Design Studio for S32 Platform.
2. Choose Help > S32DS Extensions and Updates from the menu bar.
3. In the S32DS Extensions and Updates dialog box, select NXP GCC for Arm Embedded
Processors v9.2 build 1649, NXP GCC for Arm Embedded Processors v10.2 build 1728, and
S32K3xx Development Package from the list and click Install/Update.
4. Review the information on the confirmation page and click Next.
5. Accept the license terms. Click Finish to complete the installation.
After the installation completes, S32 Design Studio for S32 Platform automatically prompts to be
restarted.

5.2. Installation to Offline Computer


You can download updates from the website manually to install the S32K3xx Development Package
on the computer with no access to the internet:
1. Go to the www.nxp.com and sign in.
2. In the Product List page select S32K3xx Development Package from the list.
Note: If the Software Terms and Conditions page appears, review the license terms and click I
Agree.
3. Select the package and click Download Selected Files to save the archive file in a local folder.
4. Launch S32 Design Studio for S32 Platform.
5. Choose Window > Preferences from the menu bar.

6. In the Preferences dialog box, click S32 Design Studio for S32 Platform > S32DS Extensions
and Updates.
7. Click Add....
8. Click Archive in the Add Site dialog box.
9. Navigate to the directory with the downloaded archive file. Choose it and click Open, then click
OK.
10.Click Apply and Close.
11.If a notification box appears on the desktop, double-click the notification. If notification is disabled,
choose Help > S32DS Extensions and Updates. from the menu bar.
12.Continue the installation as described in previous topic.

The S32K3xx Development Package specific issues are tracked through the S32DS NXP Community
space: https://community.nxp.com/community/s32/s32k. Please login and request access to the
community.
The S32 Design Studio for S32 Platform general issues are tracked through the S32DS Public NXP
Community space: https://community.nxp.com/community/s32/s32ds.
For confidential cases and cases which cannot be publicly shared on NXP Community please follow
the steps described here: https://community.nxp.com/docs/DOC-329745.
For cases with PEmicro submit a support request: https://www.pemicro.com/support/.

7. Known Issues and Workarounds

Appendix A. Known Issues and Workarounds


• iSystem Debugging: RT printf does not work correctly for S32K312/S32K314/S32K324/
S32K344.
• iSystem Debugging: The execution stops at Reset_Handler after downloading.
Workaround: After the application is downloaded, open the main code and set breakpoints
manually.
• IAR Debugger with J-Link: IAR Embedded Workbench include the earlier version of J-Link
driver that doesn't support S32K3xx devices.
Workaround: Install the J-Link SW (v7.92l) driver or reinstall it if it was already installed prior
to IAR Embedded Workbench.
• Reading registers with J-Link is not supported by J-Link(tested on versions earlier than v7.96l)
• Relaunching debugging session for single core in multicore projects, with PEmicro, will not
reinitialize core.

8. Revision history

Workaround: Fully terminate debug session for all device cores, and relaunch.
• Multicore debugging with I/O on TRACE32 is not supported.
• NullPointerException occurs when trying to open the Library Configuration of any IAR Library
project.
• S32K358: Missing IAR Arm Chip Info when creating IAR projects. No impact on functionality.
Workaround: Please add patch IAR EWARM-9322-57414
• Restart debug session is working incorrectly with S32K311.
• OS awarness is not working correctly with Diab and GreenHills
• Watchpoints are working incorrectly on Diab
• S32K388: The simulator doesn't support watchpoints with read access type.
• IAR Linker files .icf do not trigger the build process.
Workaround: Clean the project and rebuild.
• Cannot compile S32K324 multicore CPP with Diab 7.0.6 due to SRAM overflow.
