OQ8 is a Joint Venture (JV) between OQ and Kuwait Petroleum International
(KPI). This strategic partnership between OQ and KPI has been established
in the incorporation of OQ8, based in Duqm located in the South East Al
Wusta Governorate of the Sultanate of Oman. (Under the contract of NES
Fircroft)

Work exposure

 538 TPD sulfur production from each train


 Rich amine from CDU,VDU,DCU,HCU,DHT,SGP will be processed in the ARU AND
CAR
 H2S send to SRU UNIT
 Stripped water send to CSW and SWS
 Handling of chemicals such as MEDA (methyl di ethanol amine) ,Tri Sodium Phosphate
and Ammonium poly sulphide

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Analyzed and troubleshoot problems in plant operations such as pumps, and absorber to
avoid clear lines.
 Knowledgeable in startup and shutdown of SRU and TGTU
 Routine check up of incinerator, reaction furnace,claus reacctor,regenerator,
blower,pumps and filter package then updating parameters.
 Change over and lineup of amine catridge filter, main blower, incinerator blower, all units
pumps for any maintenance activity.
 Light up of reaction furnace and incinertator.
 DM water makeup incase of low concentration of MDEA SOLUTION
 routine sample taking every shift.
 Collected, checked hot, cold, and confined work permits to work at the specific
work areas.
 Visited acid recovery units, reported if any leakage issues were detected in plant
equipment’s to control room personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Operated, regulated, and coordinated plant equipment’s such as centrifugal multistage


pump and centrifugal pumps according to the standard operating procedure manual to
ensure proper shutdown of plant equipment’s. 
 Handover the PSV and plant valves in certain departments in maintenance works.
 Monitored pressure and temperature of ARU area for recording the readings and
entering in the log sheet.
 Analyzed and troubleshoot problems in on-shore plant operations such as pumps, and
absorber to avoid clear lines.
 Visited acid recovery units, and sulfur recovery unit reported if any leakage issues were
detected in plant equipment’s to control room personnel.
 Change over pumps when a pump has attained its maximum operating limits to retain the
work efficiency of operations.
 Turned plant valves for regulating flow during maintenance works.
 Operated and coordinated pump failure according to the standard operating procedure
manual to ensure adequate safety procedures are followed.
 Coordinated with control room during an emergency shutdown and startup to ensure
proper flow of communication.
