Section 1 - Relative and Absolute Addresses
Section 1 - Relative and Absolute Addresses
expect to
purchse from their company cafeteria at the cost given in C8. Use Absolute and Relative references in Column C to
calculate the monthly cost per employee for the number of standard meals they plan to purchase. Specifically,
create one formula in cell C11 that can be copied down to C15 to produce correct monthly costs for each
employee.
Cost per
Cafeteria Meal $10.50
Exercise 2: The data below show the number of lunch meals per month that five employees expect to purchse
from restaurants near their office at the costs given in Column C. In Column D use a combination of Absolute and
Relative addresses to calculate the monthly cost per employee, including tax, using the tax rate in cell C25. Create
one formula in cell D28 that can be copied down to D32 to correctly calculate the monthly cost including tax. The
formula should be of the form, Meals/Month X Cost per Meal X (1+ tax rate) , but using cell references instead
the values. The correct values are shown in Column G, so you can quickly know if your formula works.
Employee Name Meals/Month Cost per Restaurant Meal Monthly Cost Plus Tax
Ben 7 $12.50 $92.31
Alicia 12 $11.00 $139.26
Nipun 2 $17.25 $36.40
Max 5 $14.12 $74.48
Tashi 16 $9.99 $168.63
Exercise 3: The data below show flight costs for adults and children, and the number of luggage bags. Enter a copyable
formula in cell E46 to calculate the cost for the first customer, and then copy it down to E59 for the other transactions. E60
already contains a SUM formula to calculate the Total. The correct values are shown in Column G, so you can quickly know if
your formula works.
Exercise 4: Calculate the cost of each # of bags for each class below. Use a copyable formula in cell C70 that can be
used to fill the entire range C70:E74. The correct values are shown to the right, so you can quickly know if your
formula works.
3 $0.00 $75.00
4 $0.00 $100.00
5 $0.00 $125.00
Exercise 5: Each of rows 87-100 contains data on a customer group comprising the number of adults, the number
of bags, and the number of children. Cells C84 and D84 give the cost per bag and the cost per child, and the range
E84-AI84 lists the cost per adult for each possible corresponding flight date in Row 86. Enter a copyable formula in
cell E87 that can be used to fill the entire range E87:AI100 to calculate the total cost for each customer group on
each possible flight date. The correct values are shown to below, so you can quickly know if your formula works.
