2. Answer ALL the questions in your answer sheet.

3. Clearly show ALL calculations, diagrams, graphs et cetera that you have used in
determining your answers.

4. Answers only will not necessarily be awarded full marks.

5. You may use an approved scientific calculator (non-programmable and non- graphical),
unless stated otherwise.

6. If necessary, round off answers to TWO decimal places, unless stated otherwise.

Given the expression: 𝑃 = √𝑥−2. For which values of x will P be:

1.2 Round off √29 to 2 decimal places (2)

1.3 Show that 1. 5̇5̇ can be written as a rational number (3)

1.4 Determine, without the use of a calculator, between which two integers the (2)
number √163 will lie.

Given that g(x) is a linear function that passes through B(-2;0) and D(0:-4) AND
f(x) is a quadratic function with an equation 𝑓(𝑥) = −2𝑥 2 + 8.

4.1 Determine the equation of g(x) (3)

4.2 Algebraically determine the x-intercepts of f(x) (3)

4.3 Write down the coordinates of the turning point of f(x) (2)

4.4 Draw a labelled graph of g(x) and f(x) on the same set of axis. Use the graph (6)
paper provided.

Clearly show the intercepts of both and the turning point of f(x)

4.5 Write down the range of f. (2)

4.6 Write down the equation of p(x) if p(x) is the graph of f(x) reflected along the (2)
