BUSINESS PLAN

📊 Student Business Planning Project

Objective:
Students will create a fictional business and develop a full financial and operational plan,
demonstrating understanding of basic business finance concepts and entrepreneurial planning.

📋 Instructions

You are an entrepreneur starting a new business. Your task is to create a business idea and
develop a comprehensive plan that includes financial projections and analysis. You may
choose any type of business (retail, service, tech, food, etc.), but your plan must be realistic
and financially justified.

🔧 Assignment Components

1. Business Overview

 Business name, type, and structure (sole trader, partnership, company, etc.)
 Target market and customer profile
 Product or service description
 Business objectives (short- and long-term)

2. Sales Forecast

 Monthly sales volume forecast for the first 12 months


 Explain your assumptions: How many units do you expect to sell and why?

3. Budgeted Sales Revenue

 Use the sales forecast to calculate monthly and total annual revenue
 Include unit price(s) for each product or service

4. Budgeted Production Costs

 List fixed and variable costs (materials, labor, rent, etc.)


 Show monthly production cost based on your sales volume

5. Break-Even Analysis

 Calculate:
o Break-even sales volume (in units)
o Break-even revenue (in currency)
 Include a graph showing cost, revenue, and break-even point
6. Cash Flow Budget

 Prepare a monthly cash flow budget for 12 months


 Include:
o Cash inflows (sales, loans, investment)
o Cash outflows (expenses, loan repayments, equipment, salaries)
o Net cash flow and closing balance each month

📝 Presentation Format

 Submit your work as a report (PDF)


 Include graphs and tables (e.g., in Excel or Google Sheets).
 Label all charts and provide brief commentary/analysis.
