Data Center Consultant


Responsibilities:
Data Center Design and Planning

Provide expert guidance on selecting the appropriate site, equipment, and technologies
to optimize performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Develop detailed blueprints and technical specifications, including power, cooling,
networking, and storage solutions.

Vendor Selection and Negotiation

Assist in evaluating and selecting vendors for equipment, construction, and services,
ensuring they meet the quality and budget requirements.
Lead negotiations with major technology providers such as Oracle, Teradata, IBM, and
others to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Review contracts to ensure transparency, fairness, and alignment with the project
objectives.

Risk Management and Mitigation

Identify potential risks associated with the data center project, including technical,
financial, and operational challenges.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential disruptions and
ensure project success.
Provide contingency planning for disaster recovery and business continuity.

Operational Consulting

Provide ongoing consulting services during the operational phase of the data center,
ensuring that it runs efficiently and meets performance benchmarks.
Offer guidance on scaling the data center as the needs grow, including adding new
technologies and services.
Assist in training the internal team on best practices for data center management and
operations.

Qualifications:
Education and Certifications
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science,
Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), Certified
Data Center Expert (CDCE), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent.
Experience

Minimum 6 years of experience in data center design, construction, and management,


with a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale data center projects.
Extensive experience consulting with or working for major technology companies like
Oracle, Teradata, IBM, or similar.
Technical Expertise

Deep understanding of data center infrastructure, including power and cooling systems,
network architecture, storage solutions, and security protocols.
Expertise in industry standards and best practices, such as Uptime Institute Tier
Standards, ANSI/TIA-942, and ISO/IEC 27001.
Familiarity with cutting-edge technologies and trends in data center operations,
including cloud computing, virtualization, and energy efficiency.
