INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS
1) Answer one full question from each module
2) Three Modules questions are compulsory and remaining two modules will have internal choice

Q.No. Module-I Marks BL CO

Explain Artificial Intelligence (AI) and discuss its core objectives and
1. (a) principles. Provide any two examples of AI applications across various 10 L2 CO1
domains
Solve the PEAS description and characteristics for the following cases:
1. (b) i) Knitting a Sweater 10 L3 CO2
ii) Playing Soccer
Module-II
Explain the depth-limited search algorithm within the context of problem-solving in
2.(a) 6 L2 CO1
artificial intelligence

2.(b) Identify the 5 components of Touring problem using Goal based agents 7 L3 CO2
Examine a search agent for the vacuum world and its performance in a set of 3 × 3
2 (c) worlds with probability 0.2 of dirt in each square. Include the search cost as well as 7 L4 CO3
path cost in the performance measure, using a reasonable exchange rat
OR

Explain the BFS algorithm with its applications, advantages and disadvantages
6 L2 CO1
3.(a) and measure the performance of search technique.

Justify each move in your strategy by rearranging the 3x3 8-Puzzle with numbered
3.(b) tiles and an empty space to achieve ascending order (1 to 9) while minimizing the 7 L3 CO2
number of moves

Analyse hill-climbing search algorithm with 8-queens problem and list the
3 (c) 7 L4 CO3
merits and demerits of this technique.
Module-III

4.(a) Utilize the Greedy BFS and A* search techniques to travel from A to E 10 L3 CO2

B 12

C 13

D 10

E 0

4.(b) Analyse the heuristic functions utilized in knowledge-based agents by identifying

their role in aiding decision-making and problem-solving tasks within the Wumpus 10 L4 CO3
World environment

OR

Solve forward-chaining algorithm for the following statement with

Propositional logic "As per the law, it is a crime for an American to sell
weapons to hostile nations. Country A, an enemy of America, has some
5.(a) missiles, and all the missiles were sold to it by Robert, who is an American 10 L3 CO2
citizen."

Prove that "Robert is criminal."

5.(b) Analyse the working of any 3 Reasoning patterns in Propositional Logic with 10 L4 CO3
example for each
Module-IV

6.(a) Outline the concept of backward chaining as an inference mechanism in First Order 4 L2 CO1
Logic.
Solve two clauses which are given below: [Animal (g(x) V Loves (f(x), x)] and
[¬ Loves(a, b) V ¬Kills(a, b)] Where two complimentary literals are: Loves
6.(b) (f(x), x) and ¬ Loves (a, b). 8 L3 CO2

These literals can be unified with unifier θ= [a/f(x), and b/x] , and it will
generate a resolvent clause:[Animal (g(x) V ¬ Kills(f(x), x)].
6(c) Analyse the application of Unification with an example of real world problems 8 L4 CO3

Module-V

Outline the challenges of acting under uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence

7.(a) and discuss the impact of uncertainty affects decision making process in AI 10 L2 CO1
systems.

7.(b) Identify the significance of Baye's Rule in probabilistic reasoning and

elucidate it's role in updating beliefs the challenges faced by agents in the 5 L3 CO2
Wumpus World due to uncertainty.

following sentences
i. Everyone is loyal to someone
7 (c) ii. Bruno is a dog 5 L4 CO3
iii. Every man respects his parents
iv. Not all students like mathematics and science
v. All kids drink Horlicks
