Network Design Overview


Devices Used:

- 1 Switch (2960)

- 1 Server (DHCP Server)

- 4 Client PCs


IP Addressing:

Device IP Address Configuration Type

Server 10.10.10.10 Static

PC1 10.10.10.11 DHCP Assigned

PC2 10.10.10.12 DHCP Assigned

PC3 10.10.10.13 DHCP Assigned

PC4 10.10.10.14 DHCP Assigned


Network Address: 10.10.10.0/24

Step-by-Step Configuration

Step 1: Device Placement and Connections


1. Place the following devices:

- 1 Switch (2960)​
- 1 Server​
- 4 PCs (Clients)

2. Connect all devices using Copper Straight-Through Cables:

- Server → Switch​
- PC1 → Switch​
- PC2 → Switch​
- PC3 → Switch​
- PC4 → Switch
Step 2: Configure Static IP on Server
1. Click on Server → Desktop → IP Configuration.

2. Assign the following:

- IP Address: 10.10.10.10​
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0​
- Default Gateway: 10.10.10.1 (Optional)

Step 3: Configure DHCP Service on Server


1. Click Server → Config → DHCP.

2. Turn DHCP Service → ON.

3. Under Pool Name, type: Client_Pool.

4. Enter the following details:

- Default Gateway: 10.10.10.1​


- DNS Server: 10.10.10.10 (Optional)​
- Starting IP Address: 10.10.10.11​
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0​
- Maximum Number of Users: 4

5. Click Add.
Step 4: Configure Client PCs for DHCP
For each PC:

1. Click PC → Desktop → IP Configuration.

2. Select DHCP.

3. The PC will automatically receive an IP from the range: 10.10.10.11 to 10.10.10.14.

Step 5: Verify Configuration


On each PC:

1. Open Command Prompt.

2. Type: ipconfig → Verify that the IP address is assigned correctly.

3. Test connectivity: ping 10.10.10.10 → You should receive Reply from 10.10.10.10.

Final IP Assignment Summary
