Keeping our children safe when online


is important. Even though our kids may
think that they are savvy Internet users,
it is important that they realize the
Internet poses many risks. Each web and
mobile application, such as games, social
networking and entertainment, present
different safety concerns. This booklet
provides basic safety tips to share with
your students to keep them safe while
using the Internet. Help us keep your
kids safe online. Please review this booklet
with your students and have them take
the Cyber Safety Pledge at the end of
this booklet.

Cyber Safety Pledge
I pledge that:
1. I will never share any personal information online
such as my name, nickname, address, phone
number, pet’s name or school name without
first talking to my parent or guardian.
2. I will only share my user names and passwords
with my parents.
3. I will not open emails or messages from people
I do not know.
4. I will not talk to strangers online or meet
face-to-face with anyone from the Internet.
5. I will always be polite and respectful of others
online and will not be rude or mean online.
6. I will tell my parent, guardian or teacher if
anything online makes me feel uncomfortable,
scared, sad or confused.
7. I will only post pictures or videos with my
parent’s approval.
8. I will create a unique user ID to play
online with my friends so that I do not
reveal anything personal about myself.
