B Sample answer: There have always been a lot of

people who argue that advertisers shouldn’t be
allowed to target children because they are easy
to influence. So, is it right for advertisers to be
allowed to exploit children or should ads for children
be banned?
On the one hand, children are much more likely than
adults to be affected by advertising, especially for
products that are popular with other children. It is
also true that children can be very demanding and
they can put pressure on parents who might not be
able to afford the products aimed at their children.
Advertisers know this and use this information in order
to promote products for young children.
On the other hand, if there are laws about how
children are targeted, it seems unfair if toy or games
companies can’t advertise their products. Children
also need to know what toys and games are available.
Another thing governments can do to stop advertisers
targeting children constantly is to only allow ads for
children during a short time each day. So, there is no
real reason why products for children shouldn’t be
advertised, as long as there are strict rules that stop
producers from targeting young children too much.
