The business division named Group Benefit, participated in the project and had undergone an initial analysis of work to find out the base estimate of the work in phase one. My role is of a technical leader and onsite coordinator for executing the conversion along with the testing of the converted components, with preferably enhanced execution time.

The five business divisions of the Canadian divisions of the institution participated in the project and had undergone an initial analysis of work to find out the base estimate of the work. I manage a group of 11 applications with 16 resources here at Pine Valley, with full of diversity in there functionalities. The most important applications are: SVL: Here, we maintain the system for more or less 10 producers like Countrywide, GMAC etc for Liberty Insurance Services. INGENIUM: We manage the underwriting and issuance of new policies thru different phases. PALLM: We maintain the show for some of the old UL policies in US. LifeComm: It is a modified whole life management system executes on mainframe. There are several more systems, which we deal with, like DEBIT, AGENCY, DWH, EFD etc. Earlier the business was with RBC, after IBM acquired the system, we have taken charge of the whole backend processing with a counter part in US. In our applications, we maintain the business with the Producers and Agency. We support the day-to-day activities on the policies. We have a huge numbers of COBOL and EZT programs running with IDMS and DB2 databases in both batch and online mode. Environment : Mainframe Description : CRIS is an information system maintained for credit card related information management. It was a pilot project for a client, whose name is not supposed to be exposed. We had developed and executed the backend part of the system. This consisted of four to five PL/1 CICS DB2 programs. The information of the customer resides in a DB2 database, and there are some PL/1 programs to find out the credibility of those customers. Those are all online programs. In US, there are a few transmitters thru which HSBC collect tax return files and process them for their Refund Lending business. But, they decided to start dealing with free-lancer CPA (Certified Public Accountant). For this purpose they required to build a new database and code a set of new programs. Along with that, they decide to share their customer information with other SBUs. So, we are coding some online and batch program to talk to Mortgage BU. So, we coded some programs to tackle the existing data in both the tables, such that data migration takes place properly. It was involved with unloading and loading of data also. Changes in existing programs using these tables were made to incorporate the new structure of the tables. We have coded lots of COBOL programs to handle the logic between OLTP unloading and OLAP loading. Some Stored procedures and Triggers were built at that time to isolate some business logic in a granular code piece attached to the database server. It involved coding of some set of EasyTrieve routines for few financial and audit trail reports generation from this BID tables. Finally we did a lot of efficiency improvement of the codes generated.
