Holidays Homework Grade 6

(Do on maths fair notebook)

PRACTICE TIME 3(B)
1. Solution:- 8 + 6 + 7+1= 22
2 + 2=4
2. Solution:- two-digit numbers where the sum of the digits equals 9:
=18 (1+8), 27 (2+7), 36 (3+6), 45 (4+5), 54 (5+4), 63 (6+3), 72 (7+2), 81 (8+1), 90 (9+0)
=18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90

3.Solution:-We check numbers from 400 to 499:

480 to 489 are the numbers with 8 at the tens place.
10 numbers (480 to 489)
4.Solution:-numbers ending with 9 from 101 to 300:
109, 119, 129, ..., 299
These are all numbers that end in 9.
They occur every 10 numbers, so:
(299 - 109) ÷ 10 + 1 = (190 ÷ 10) + 1 = 19 + 1 = 20
5. Solution:-Smallest 3-digit number: 100
First palindromic number after 100: 101
6.Solution:-We look for numbers between 200 and 300 that are palindromes:
202, 212, 222, 232, 242, 252, 262, 272, 282, 292
7. Solution
Examples:
56 → 56 + 65 = 121 (Palindrome)
73 → 73 + 37 = 110 → 110 + 011 = 121 (Palindrome)
89 → 89 + 98 = 187 → 187 + 781 = 968 → 968 + 869 = 1837 → 1837 + 7381 = 9218 → 9218 + 8129 = 17347 →
(Keep going, eventually gives palindrome; for shorter case):
Better simpler ones:
19 → 19 + 91 = 110 → 110 + 011 = 121 (Palindrome)
24 → 24 + 42 = 66 (Palindrome)
Final answers: 56, 73, 24

PRACTICE TIME 3 (C)

Solution 1.Step 1:
1000 → digits: 1, 0, 0, 0
Descending: 1000
Ascending: 0001
1000 − 0001 = 0999
Step 2:
0999 → digits: 0, 9, 9, 9
Descending: 9990
Ascending: 0999
9990 − 0999 = 8991
Step 3:
8991 → Descending: 9981
Ascending: 1899
9981 − 1899 = 8082
Step 4:
8082 → Descending: 8820
Ascending: 0288
8820 − 0288 = 8532
Step 5:
8532 → Descending: 8532
Ascending: 2358
8532 − 2358 = 6174 ← reached!
Thus,5 rounds are needed to reach 6174 starting from 1000.

Solution 3: a palindromic date in the 21st century (2001–2100) must satisfy this symmetry.
Example:12-02-2021
Reverse it: 12-02-2021 → Still the same.
This is a palindromic date in DD-MM-YYYY format and falls within the 21st century.

Solution 4:-Let’s define the pattern:

Day (DD): Same two digits (like 11, 22, etc.)
Month (MM): Same two digits
Year (YYYY): All four digits are the same (e.g., 1111, 2222)

The date 12-12-2012 is considered interesting because all the numbers are same. Find the next date after 12-12-12
that has a similar pattern where the date and year digits all are the same.
like 11-11-2011 or 12-12-2012
The only years that satisfy “all digits same” are: 1111, 2222, 3333, ..., 9999
Now let’s search for the earliest future date after 12-12-2012 where:
Day and month are valid (01 to 31 for day, 01 to 12 for month)
Year has all same digits
All components (DD, MM, YYYY) use the same digit
We try:
22-2-2222 → valid date: 22-02-2222
Day = 22, Month = 2, Year = 2222 → all digits are 2 → MATCH
So the next date after 12-12-2012 where the day, month, and year consist of the same digit is:
22-02-2222 (22nd February 2222)

Solution 5:
(1) 01:10
(2) 02:20
(3) 12:21
These times are symmetric and read the same from left to right and right to left.

PRACTICE TIME 3 (D)

solution 1,:-let's identify and add up all the numbers in each ring of the pattern:
Innermost circle:
1 circle with 100
Second ring (next from the center):
4 circles with 50
4 × 50 = 200
Third ring:
8 circles with 25
8 × 25 = 200
Outermost ring:
2 circles with 10
12 × 10 = 120
Now add all the totals:
=100 (center)+200 (second ring)+200 (third ring)+120 (outer ring)
Total sum = 100 + 200 + 200 + 120 = 620

Solution 2:-
If the number is even, divide it by 2.
If the number is odd, multiply by 3 and add 1.
Apply these steps repeatedly until you reach 1.
Let's start with 10:
10 is even → 10 / 2 = 5
5 is odd → 3 * 5 + 1 = 16
16 is even → 16 / 2 = 8
8 is even → 8 / 2 = 4
4 is even → 4 / 2 = 2
2 is even → 2 / 2 = 1
Colitis Sequence starting from 10:
10, 5, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1

Solution 3:- Let's round each number to the nearest 10 first:

74 rounds to 70
89 rounds to 90
Now, add the rounded numbers:
70 + 90 = 160
So, the sum by rounding each number to the nearest 10 is 160.

Solution 4:-First, let's round the weekly production to the nearest hundred:
2,385 rounded to the nearest hundred is 2,400 toys.
Now, to find the approximate monthly production, assume a month has about 4 weeks:
Monthly production ≈ 2,400 toys/week × 4 weeks = 9,600 toys.
So, approximately 9,600 toys are produced in a month.
