Metallography
We undertake a wide range of Metallographic Testing as per ASTM & IS standards.
Metallography has been the study of the microscopic structure of metals and alloys using optical
metallographs, electron microscopes or other surface analysis equipment. As Materials have evolved,
metallography has expanded to incorporate materials ranging from electronics to medical implants. By
analysing a materials microstructures, its performance and reliability can be better understood thus
metallography is used in new materials development, incoming inspection, production and
manufacturing control and for failure analysis in other words, product reliability.
Metallography or microstructural analysis includes but is not limited to the following types of analysis:
• Grain Size , Porosity and voids, Phase analysis, Dendritic growth
• Cracks and other defects
• Intergranular attack (IGA)
• Stress corrosion
• Inclusion size, shape and distribution
• Case depth
• Weld and heat- affected zones (HAZ) microstructures of deleterious inter metallic phase.
• Identification of deleterious inter metallic phase such as sigma

Hardenability and Jominy Test
The Jominy End Quench Test ASTM A 255 measures
Hardenability of steels. Hardenability is a measure of the
capacity of a steel to be hardened in depth when quenched from
its austenitizing temperature. Hardenability of a steel should not
be confused with the hardness of a steel. The Hardness of a steel
refers to its ability to resist deformation when a load is applied,
whereas hardenability refers to its ability to be hardened to a
particular depth under a particular set of conditions. Information
gained from this test is necessary in selecting the proper
combination of alloy steel and heat treatment to minimize
thermal stresses and distortion when manufacturing
components of various sizes.
Ericksen Cupping test
Cupping test is a significant test assess the ductile
properties of the metal. In this test, a punching force
is applied to the metal sheet of thickness from
0.2mm to 2mm. The force applied on the sample is
displayed by the gauge.

Ericksen test

For the Ericksen test a sheet specimen blank is

clamped firmly between blank holders which
prevents the in-flow (feeding) of sheet volume from
under the blank holder into the deformation zone
during the test

The ball punch is forced onto the sheet specimen till

cracks begin to appear in the bulge dome.

The distance the punch travels is referred to as the

Ericksen drawing index IE (index Ericksen)and is a
measure for the formability of the sheet during
stretch forming

WELDER QUALIFICATION AND WELDING PROCEDURE
QUALIFICATION

We offers independent, third-party weld testing services for

Welder Qualification and Welding Procedure Qualification.
Welding procedures are usually developed in accordance with
a welding code or standard that requires weld samples be
produced, inspected, and tested to establish qualification.

We performs destructive and non-destructive weld testing to

verify that a welding procedure and welds produced according
to the procedure meet requirements. The requirements are
generally stated in standards and specifications, including API,
ASME, ASTM, AWS, EN, MIL and the Pressure Equipment
Directive.

All required testing services are available to verify that a

welding procedure meets requirements for qualification and
to certify that a welder can properly produce a weld to
specification. Welding coupons and specimens are also
prepared onsite in our machine shop. The results of all
qualification testing are documented in certified reports.
Weld Testing
Welding Procedure Qualification

The welding procedure is reviewed in detail, then testing and

inspection is performed on welds produced in accordance with
the procedure to verify all requirements are met. Weld coupon
testing often includes visual examination, mechanical testing,
metallographic examination and nondestructive testing. We
may also assist with preparation of Welding Procedure
Qualification as per client or project requirements.

Welder Qualification

After confirmation that a welding procedure meets a specified

standard, welders may be qualified for the procedure. This
involves conducting tests on the weld to ensure it was
produced to specification, correct filler material was used and
the weld joint is aligned accurately. The welder qualification
test is generally required to support welder certification.

Positive Material Identification (PMI)
Positive Material Identification which is rapidly emerging as an integral part of process safety
management and quality control in many industries such as electric power generation, construction,
manufacturing, chemical processing, oil refineries and petrochemical plants. Using state-of-the-art
hand-held XRF Analyser, we provide Positive Material Identification (PMI) and Qualitative elemental
determination for a wide range of item, even in arduous conditions,
Including:
• Pipes & Tubes
• Forged Bars
• Valves
• Weld Seams
• Tanks & vessels
• Structural Supports
This means that positive material identification
(PMI) in alloys used throughout the physical plant
is no longer a choice, but a necessity. Simply
relying on spot testing of parts and subassemblies
is too risky and totally unacceptable. Today’s best
practices include 100% positive material testing of
all testing of all critical materials.
Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge
Ultrasonic thickness gauges are used in many industries, including
manufacturing, construction, aerospace, and oil and gas, to measure the
thickness of a variety of materials:
•Pipes, tanks, and pressure vessels, Ultrasonic thickness gauges can measure
the thickness of these structural components.
•Metallic and non-metallic materials, Ultrasonic thickness gauges can
measure the thickness of materials like aluminum, titanium, plastics, ceramics,
and glass.
•Corrosion detection, Ultrasonic thickness gauges can detect corrosion or
thinning in critical components.
•Material integrity, Ultrasonic thickness gauges can assess the integrity of
materials.

Transformer & Insulating Oil Testing (Outsource)
We offer consultancy services for Transformer Oil Testing, It’s methods are a vital part of any maintenance program. An
annual DGA is the most crucial test for the liquid lining. Analysis of gases in the oil can specify insulation overheating/
overloading, corona discharge, liquid overheating, or arcing in the transformer. The screen test comprises additional
physical, chemical, and electrical tests; this includes power factor, interfacial tension, acidity, colour, and dielectric
breakdown. No single test alone can indicate the authentic stature of the liquid. Thus, it is necessary to perform all the
tests. Furthermore, a useful test is performed by transformer oil labs that include those for water content, PCBs furanic
compounds, and metals-in-oil.
