H.Y.D.R.A or Hydroponics Advanced with Quality Sensing, SMS, UV Light, and Solar
Power Integration is an innovation of a small scale hydroponic system that aims to improve the
current design of hydroponics by adding an SMS (Short Message Service) system that sends a
message whenever the water level in the tank is empty and by adding wheels making the device
movable, a water level and PH sensor is also included that detects the water tanks PH and water
level. The device also includes UV Light strips powered by a 50V Solar Panel that enables the

INTRODUCTION
Sustainable agricultural practices have received a lot of attention in recent years as the
world’s population has grown, with practices that seek to protect the earth, improve and maintain
soil fertility, based on a multi-pronged goal, sustainable agricultural seeks to increase crop yields
to batter support a population. Traditional farming system now face resource constraints and
something that is raising our concern in the world is the techniques used in farming. People all
around seek healthier food options grown in a healthy environment. This is one of the reasons
that makes organic farming more adoptable (Feenstra, 2021). According to the food and
agriculture organization’s report in 2001, it is projected that the global population will reach 9.7
billion by 2050. This will require a 60% rise in the production of food worldwide. The current
state of under nourishment has found to effect around 11% of the global population, and there
has been an upward trend in this figure in recent times. As though, food security has emerged as
a prominent concern in the current era, representing a critical challenge for the agricultural sector
(Tilman, 2020).
Hydroponics is one of the emerging trends in modern farming (Kanukollu et al, 2019), in
which these methods enable to grow plants without soil and offers an alternative solution to
traditional farming methods. In the agriculture, hydroponic grows plants using water-based
nutrient solutions and offers many benefits for the environment, including water conservation,
reduced use of pesticides, energy efficiency, reduced land usage, and sustainable crop production
(Boylan, C, 2020). Though hydroponics has its own fair share of problems, such as the constant
need for direct sunlight, and water levels dropping dramatically among many other can be a
severe issue that can cause plants to slowly die. Therefore, integrating renewable energy sources,
such as solar electricity, improves the overall sustainability of these systems. It’s environmentally
efficient and by using natural sunlight to formulate energy, which makes it infinitely better than
LED’s or other electric supplies (Doshie, 2022). The use of UV rays can also help with plants
growing, though excessive UV radiation can be harmful, managed exposures can stimulate a
variety of physiological and biochemical processes in plants, resulting in greater plant growth,
nutritional content, and resistance to pests and diseases (Vanhaelewyn et al, 2020).
Hydroponic farming systems are a viable option for farming in regions with less than
ideal soil and environmental conditions since they maximize crop productivity and efficiency
while preserving resource like electricity, water, and space. Hydroponics is primarily focused on
indoor farming, it can also help farmers reduce the amount of work they do outside. By growing
plants without the need of soil or chemical fertilizers, hydroponic farming avoids the chance of
insect infestation. Farmers can grow more food in a smaller area using hydroponics farming than
they could with conventional soil planting. In this effective, disease-free, climate-resilient
alternative agriculture method, plants are grown in nutrient-rich water solutions rather than soil.
The Researcher employs hydroponics, a sustainable food production technique appropriate for
developing nations and populations with inadequate soil conditions, the Researcher uses solar
The number of resources used by traditional agriculture is astronomical. With most crop
production already pushed to its ceiling both genetically and chemically (a significant increase in
fertilizer or pesticide use will not sufficiently increase yields), intensification and the expansion
of land used for food production have been seen as the only viable options to meet this growing
food demands. Globally, 70% of water usage goes towards agricultural production, largely due to
unsustainable irrigation practices. At present, 38% of earth’s non-frozen land is used for growing
food. This percentage will continue to rise: by 2050, 593 million hectares of land will need to be
transformed into agricultural land to meet the projected calorie needs of the global population if
we continue with business as usual. This needed land is equal to roughly double the size of India.
This outlook is placing many essential ecosystems at risk of being completely destroyed,
especially those that are key to maintaining an already disturbed balance of carbon dioxide in out
atmosphere.
allows programming and controlling circuits through sensor’s, LED’s, motors, speakers, and the
internet, making it a versatile platform for creative projects. pH is a measure of the acidity or
basicity of aqueous or liquid solutions. It converts hydrogen ion concentration values into
numbers between 0 and 14, with a neutral pH of 7 in pure water. A pH below 7 is acidic. Water
level, also known as gauge height or stage, refers to the elevation of a surface in a body of water
relative to a specific vertical datum. Solar power converts sun energy into electricity and heat,
utilizing solar panels ranging from residential rooftops to large rural farms.
With these idea the researcher constructed indoor hydroponics systems powered by solar
energy through the strategic use of ultraviolet (UV) light. Arduino a pocket-sized microcontroller
that allows programming and controlling circuits through sensor’s, LED’s, motors, speakers, and
internet, making it a versatile platform for creative projects. Using a SIM card, a GSM module
connects to the GSM network in order to function. The module receives a unique identification
number from the SIM card that uses to identify itself on the network. The GSM module can send
and receive data by utilizing a series of protocols to communicate with the network. pH is a
measure of the acidity or basicity of aqueos or liquid solution. Water level refers to the elevation
This study aims to conceptualize and innovate an updated hydroponic design that uses
