F2, ENGLISH MARKING SCHEME

CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF BUNGOMA AMUKURA PARISH EXAMINATIONS

Question One
Must be a notice if not deduct 4mks and mark for language
Notice – 10 marks
i. Must be a notice. If not, deduct 2 marks
ii. Must bear the label NOTICE (1mark)
iii.State the name of the club issuing the notice.(1 mark)
iv.Head/top Heading must have name of the club. (1 mark)
v. Must state that it is meant for the public (½mk mark)
vi.Must state the date, day and time of the meeting (½mk date, ½mk venue, ½mk
for time)
vii. Must be written in formal, precise language 3mks
viii. Must bear indication of who issued the notice, i.e. the secretary (need not
be signed) if constantly and use capital letter 1mk
ix. Borders/inset to give it enhanced/attractive appearance 1mk

A notice is hereby given to the secondary schools in Busia county and the
public of an upcoming presentation of two set books; Blossoms of the
Savannah and The Pearl. It will be held for two days; 26 th of the October,
2021- Sunday and 27th October, 2021 – Saturday in the Busia public
grounds from 8.30a.m to 4:00 p.m.

i. Legends.  (1 mark). It talks about Fumo Liyongo, the Pokomo warrior who
had extraordinary strength/ strong and brave man(1 mark) . He split animals
into two. (1 mark)
ii. - The main character has supernatural abilities  (1 mark)
- Are based on a community based hero i.e. the pokot  (1 mark)
- The hero sacrifices oneself on behalf of the community.  (1 mark)
- Have a moral lesson.  (1 mark)
iii. (a)Fumo
 Brave/ courageous. He snapped the crocodile with his bare hands. 
 Responsible He trekked to the river to wash his own clothes. 
Selfless He saved the screaming man from the crocodile. 
(b) The Chief
 Cunning  He lied to Liyongo that he would grant him many things
including his own daughter for a wife if he got rid of Fumo. 
 Self-centered He wanted Fumo dead because of his own selfish reasons.

 Gullible . - He was convinced by the chief to kill his own son for him
to be given one of the chief’s daughters as a promise. 
