1. (a) A pharmaceutical company manufactures two types of drugs; 𝑋
and 𝑌. The cost of manufacturing drug 𝑋 is four times that of drug 𝑌.
If the company spends 𝐺𝐻ȼ2,100.00, it can manufacture 105 more of
drug 𝑌 than drug 𝑋. Find the cost of manufacturing each type of drug.

2. Determine graphically, the truth set of the simultaneous equations;

6. A survey conducted at OBOSS clinic revealed that out of 80 patients


admitted in September, 2024, 33 suffered from diarrhoea, 41 suffered
from malaria and 29 suffered from typhoid; 9 suffered from diarrhoea
only, 12 suffered from malaria only, 7 suffered from typhoid only and
11 were sick of all three ailments.
a) Draw a Venn diagram to illustrate this information.
b) Use your diagram to find the number of patients who suffered from;
(i) diarrhoea and malaria only;
(ii) diarrhoea and typhoid only;
(iii) malaria and typhoid only;
(iv) none of the three ailments.
c) Find the probability of randomly selecting a patient who suffered
from exactly two of the ailments.
