1. (a) A pharmaceutical company manufactures two types of drugs; 𝑋
and 𝑌. The cost of manufacturing drug 𝑋 is four times that of drug 𝑌.
If the company spends 𝐺𝐻ȼ2,100.00, it can manufacture 105 more of
drug 𝑌 than drug 𝑋. Find the cost of manufacturing each type of drug.

(b) Simplify + , leaving your answer in the form 𝑎 + 𝑏√3,

2. Determine graphically, the truth set of the simultaneous equations;
𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 𝑥 − 6 and 𝑦 = 2𝑥 using a scale of 2 𝑐𝑚 𝑡𝑜 1 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡 𝑜𝑛

3. a) Two containers 𝐴 and 𝐵 contain equal number of litres of water. If
300 litres of water is drained from container 𝐴 into container 𝐵, the
content of container 𝐴 becomes one- fourth that of container 𝐵.
Determine the initial number of litres of water in each of the
containers.
b) Solve the inequality and represent the solution on the real number line.
