The safety screen filter (SSF) prevents large particles from entering the Summary
proportional valves and, thereby, minimises the risk of untimed Modular 100 micron filter to protect
injection. An untimed injection could, for example, lead to a cylinder ELFI and FIVA proportional valves
cover lift and, in a worst case scenario, pose a potential threat to the against contaminants in the hydraulic
engine and people in the vicinity of the engine. oil.
The SSF is a 100 μm filter that has already been embedded in all new
multi-way valve designs. In addition, it has been offered as a retrofit Reference
solution for some specific multi-way valve designs since 2021. The SL2021-709/MET
new SSF Type II is a modular solution that is compatible with all ELFI
and FIVA designs as well as all proportional valve makes.
The filter is positioned between the valve housing and the proportional
valve, as shown in Fig. 1. Inspection of the filter is required every 6,000
running hours, and new spares or the filter element can be purchased
if necessary.
