Blues And The Blues
The Blues is one of the most independent types of black music that has been influenced by the
Afro American traditions. The blues were not completely developed until all the slaves were
announce free in 1862. When one listen to blues, one can hear that the genre is very much
influences by the slaves` work songs and Negro Spirituals. Even when the slaves finally got their
freedom, they were not seen as equals by the environment around them. A large amount of the
Africans in America was poor and they lived under difficult circumstances. Most of them could not
read and had a lack of education. They were disrespected by the rest of the population. It was
through the experiences of pain and strife of being taken from their home and emotions that the
slavery brought through, that the term Being blue was introduced. This expression expressed the
former slaves` feeling of depression and sadness, and most of all loneliness. This is how the blues
appeared. The lyrics of the blues is mainly about being lonely, broken hearts, being sick and
problems with money. While the Negro spirituals was about the slaves` need for religious or
spiritual guidance, the blues was about the struggles the Africans faced every day. The blues was
about conveying the `feeling` of suffering and pain that the slaves went through. In... Show more

One can trace the blue notes back to the negro spirituals, where they used it to as a way of making
an depressed and sad atmosphere. A blue note is also called a worried note , because when one
play it in song, one get a worried feeling . When I studied music, I experienced that the musicians
that was new to both jazz and blues, but wanted to start practice them, first begun to explore blues
before changing to jazz. The reason is that the blues was easier in the way that it had a firm chord
structure, and easier chord progress, compared to

Descriptive Essay On The Spider
The Spider(s)

I woke up like any other day from my deep sleep when my alarm clock started blasting after
repeatedly hitting snooze ten times. Looking up at it I realize it s my day off and curse at it for
waking me up. After stretching I recall the dream I had. It was the most bizarre thing ever. It felt
real, to real for my comfort zone. I was slowly getting ready for work, when I tripped over my feet
trying to put my shoes on. My focus lands on this medium brownish black dot in the middle of the
wooden floor. Realizing what it is I let the fear begin to consume my whole being. It s as if all
those eight eyes are staring at me, waiting to chase me at the right moment when my guard is
down. I can see it twitching, focusing all of it s energy to jump on my face. But before it can do
that I begin to get up. Hoping that I was going fast enough but slow enough but I wouldn t trigger it
to pounce on me. Once I got on my feet I dashed to the kitchen feeling relieved to get away from it.
As I m looking for something that could squish the eight legged creature from existence I feel this
tickle on the back of my leg slowly moving upwards. Knowing what it is, out of instinct I quickly
reach down and flick it off me. With A rolled up newspaper I turn around and see that the spider is
nowhere to be seen. I go to the spot I saw it land but it s as if it just upped and poofed it s way into
hiding. I can t just leave it to roam around, it s like guerilla warfare. I m

Florida. In 1990, Kmart acquired the company. Five years later, The Sports Authority had expanded
to 136 stores in 26 states, and was spun off from parent Kmart. Its headquarters were in Lauderdale

amount of bankruptcy they were in was 20 million dollars. The company has 14,500 full and part

nearly two thirds of the employees were part time. In 1991, as revenue rose to $240 million, the
company enjoyed its first profitable year of operation, reporting an operating income of $3.3
million. The first year that Sports Authority opened its 100th store as it recorded another record
breaking performance sale increased to $838 million, up 38 percent from the previous year, and
earnings rose to $16.9 million, a 33 percent jump. The main reason why Sports Authority went
bankruptcy was because; they weren t reaching the customers taste. They weren t putting the stuff
out that people actually wanted so customers would go shop at other stores.

Who Am I Who I Am
Why I am Who I am

When I think back to why I am who I am, I think back to my childhood and what memories have
stuck in my mind. They often come up in certain situations as a reminder to never forget the people
that love me, or the places that I love that influence my choices and the road to my future goals. I
try my best to follow advice and recollect on the important things in life, like zipping up my coat or
enjoying time with my family, making the best out of situations and thinking positively. I
remember repetitive smells or touch that one day added to my mind and never left, that will
always be a part of me, Now I am eighteen and in college, about to start a new chapter my life and
compose new memories with new people. Thinking back now makes me wonder what it will be like
to think back years from now to these moments that im making now, and how I will connect them all.
Zip it up or don t go outside my teacher would declare to me, because I still couldn t zip up my
own coat without someone s help. Could you please help me? I asked, Try zipping it up or don t
go outside , I remember her reciting it in a somewhat of a rude tone and it was announced in front
of the class, usually in line before recess, which did not make me feel any better. The pressure of
doing it in front of the class made me a bit frightened, I could feel their wide eyes on me which only
made me more nervous. With my small fingers trembling
Australian English And Its Slang
Nowadays, about 375 million people are native English speakers and more then half of them live in
the United States. Also, five more countries use English as their first launguage including the United
Kingdom,Canada,Australia,Ireland, and New Zealand. Because English is so widely spoken, there
are major varieties of English, such as British English, North American English, Australian English,
South African English and New Zealand English (R. Nordquist). In my research paper, I would like
to talk about Australian English and it s slang. Australian English (AuE, AusE, en AU) is a specific
form of English language that is using only in Australia. Aussie English started to differ from
British English after the originating of the penal colony of New South Wales in 1788. At that time
Great Britain has an overflowing population of prisoners, and British government decided to send
different convicts from all over the country, including Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The native born
children of the colony established the new dialect that later has become the language of the nation.
They created an earliest form of Australian English by hearing and mixing up a wide range of
accents from all over the British Isles. Also, many immigrants from Europe that came to the colonies
of New South Wales and Victoria in 1850s during the first Australian gold rushes had influenced on
development of a unique Australian dialect. Moreover, some words from Aboriginal language,

Analysis Of The Book The Signing Of Jay s Treaty
1. Gesture and Figure !Symbolic: Some think that Washington is pointing to the future, and others
think he is saying farewell. Another interpretation is that the painting commemorates the signing of
Jay s Treaty. In the painting, Washington s stance made him look quite regal. This is similar to
European paintings of royals and nobles from that time. Biographic: Washington was about to retire
from politics and said that nothing could bring him back into it. He had also recently fought the
opponents of Jay s Treaty. Jay introduced the painter Gilbert Stuart to Washington. Artistic: Stuart
knew that Washington didn t have the time to pose a lot, so he focused on the face and hands when
Washington was posing, and did the rest from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Clothing !Symbolic: Washington understood the symbolic value of clothing, and in 1775, at the
assembly of the Second Continental Congress, he was the only delegate in military uniform. He
wore this to show that Virginia was willing to fight with Massachusetts. In most portraits of
Washington, he was depicted in military uniform. Him being in a suit in this portrait represented
his change from military leader to president. Washington s suit also showed that he was a leader
of people, but not a monarch. This is because his plain clothing represented him being a leader
chosen by the people, and not a powerful monarch wearing royal robes. Biographic: When
Washington was president, on formal occasions, he wore a black suit. One description of his attire
came from Henrietta Liston, wife of the British Prime Minister. On December 9, 1796, at
Washington s last annual address to congress, she said that he wore black velvet and carried a
sword. Artistic: For some unknown reason, Stuart made Washington s two sleeves different. The
right sleeve properly reflected the current fashion, whereas the left one was too full. 4. Sword
!Symbolic: The sheathed sword that Washington had in the painting was ceremonial, and was the
mark of a good gentleman, even though it was out of style when with a suit. It was also a
Euthanasia Essay example
Euthanasia, also known as mercy killing is a practice of ending a life to release an individual from
an incurable disease or intolerable suffering. Euthanasia has been accepted both legally and morally
in various forms in many societies but not in all. In ancient Greece and Rome it was permissible in
some situations to help others die. For example, the Greek writer Plutarch mentioned that in Sparta
infanticide was practiced on children who lacked quot;health and vigor. quot; Both Socrates and
Plato sanctioned forms of euthanasiain certain cases. Voluntary euthanasiafor the elderly was an
approved custom in several ancient societies. With the rise of organized religion, euthanasia became
morally and ethically abhorrent. Christianity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Derek first founded the Hemlock Society in 1980 after the tragic death of his wife Jean. Jean had
bone cancer and suffered a lot of pain and eventually took her own life with Dereks help.
There are also some organizations that feel euthanasia should be illegal. One such organization is
the I.A.E.T.F. which stands for the International Anti Euthanasia Task Force. The I.A.E.T.F. is an
information center for many different groups, one such group is Hospice. Hospice is a program
designed to assist patients and families at the end of life. Hospice care is to provide symptom
directed, supportive care and to address the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the
patients, families and caregivers of terminally ill individuals. Basically hospice doesn t believe in
any form of euthanasia. The focus of Hospice is pain management. If you can manage the pain
through medications it is thought by this group that you don t have to take your life.
Currently, there is only one state where euthanasia is legal this state is Oregon. New York currently
believes that euthanasia should be illegal, but has set up pain management programs. There are two
main documents in New York that help the dying patient gain a sense of control ever the end of
their life these are the do not resuscitate (DNR) and the health care proxy. The do not resuscitate or
DNR form states simply that when respirations and
Dramatic Epiphanys In Edith Wharton s The Age Of Innocence
Dramatic Epiphanies of the Future In the book The Age of Innocence, Edith Wharton tells the
tale of a young man who feels constricted by society, but at the same time embraces the strict rules
that ensure that everyone has a place. Newland Archer s life in the 1870s in old New York
changes when he meets his old playmate, Ellen Olenska, right before he is about to announce his
engagement to her cousin, May Welland. Newland starts to doubt his relationship and future with
May as he succumbs to Ellen s various charms, and he becomes confused, changing his mind and
being influenced by people around him many times. Throughout the course of the novel,
Newland has several internal awakenings which he treats as if something dramatic is happening
in his life. However, these discoveries are not real epiphanies, rather they are just Newland
imagining his future in an ideal world. These awakenings are of the mind or body, and they all
have to do with decisions he makes in his love life. Newland Archer is the kind of man who
thinks he is ahead of his time, but when he has the chance to prove that he really believes in these
modern ideas, he falls short. The women s rights movement had just started to make a name for
itself at this time, and people felt that they had to take sides in the debate. Newland had stated that
he believed that Women should be free as free as we [men] are (62). However, when he thinks
about why he is marrying May Welland, he realizes that he is not any
Medical Error
Medical Error: What the Public Should Know

For all of its strengths, our health care system still is plagued by avoidable errors.
President Bill Clinton

The issue of medical error is recognized as a very serious U.S. healthcare concern in terms of
avoidable patient death and injury, achieving efficacious treatment, and in controlling the costs. The
prevention of medical errors may seem to be a relatively simple task and with recent awareness,
some improvements have been accomplished. However, the search for reasonable, acceptable, and
more effective remedies and countermeasures continue with force. Attention to medical errors
escalated over eight years ago with the release of a study from the Institute of Medicine (IOM), To ...

In working with the Leapfrog Group and similar organizations, quality experts believe that the act
of publicly releasing information has improved the quality of healthcare for employees, in
general. The dissemination of hospitals performance information by the members to their
enrollees has reinforced the acts and efforts to improve safety and quality.[2] The last aspect in
increasing public awareness involves changing the mindset of the people from individual
problem to systems problem. Most people believe that medical errors are the result of the failures
of individual providers. The public believes that possible solutions to medical errors are to keep
health professionals with bad track records from providing care and give better training to health
professionals. The IOM report stated that it is a systems problem. They emphasized that most of the
medical errors are systems related and not attributable to individual negligence or misconduct. The
key to reducing medical errors is to focus on improving the systems of delivering care and not to
blame individuals. Health care professionals are simply human and, like everyone else, they make
mistakes. Research has shown that system improvements can reduce the error rates and improve the
quality of health care. A 1999 study indicated that including a pharmacist on medical rounds reduced
the errors related to medication ordering by
The Knight s Interpretation Of Death In The Film
Throughout the movie, Death came from the manifestation of a knight s imagination. The knight see
death with a human appearance consists of covering his body completely with a black cloak, only
revealing his pale face. Another resemblance of death is when the knight tried to ask a passerby
which turned how he died for a few days from the plague. After the confrontation, the knight
commented the corpse was a gentleman yet silent. This situation was similar how deathhimself
characterized, usually reply with vague answers is needed, yet approaches to his victims silently.
The woman knight rescued said her first along with last words before they descended to the dance
of death of It is finished. What was significant about the scene is that throughout the movie her
personality was gloomy and didn t say anything. At the end she approaches death with the quote,
