.FirstAttemptFail-Review Questions

The document contains review questions and answers regarding electromagnetic signals, focusing on the differences between analog and digital signals, characteristics of periodic signals, and relationships between frequency, period, spectrum, and bandwidth. It defines fundamental frequency and discusses absolute bandwidth, although the latter definition is uncertain. Key concepts include the representation of signals, their periodic nature, and the mathematical relationships governing them.

Review Questions

2.1 Differentiate between an analog and a digital electromagnetic signal.

Answer
An analog signal can be represnted by a continous wave, while a digital signal is
represnted as short bursts or high values and regions of low values

2.2 What are three important characteristics of a periodic signal?

a. Periodic signals can be represnted by a sine function
b. They are analog in nature
c. They are continuous

2.3 How many radians are there in a complete circle of 360 degrees?
2π radians

2.4 What is the relationship between the frequency and period of a periodic signal?

A frequency of asignal is directly inversely proportianolal to a period of a

signal. 1/T = f, where T = Period and f= freq

2.5 What is the relationship between a signal’s spectrum and its bandwidth?
A signal spectrum is the range of frequencies a signal uses, its bandwidth is teh
range or frequencies a signal is allowed. E.g light allows a large specturm of
frequencies from red to violet, but the badwith of the medium may be 200-500THz,
meaning some freq in the lights specturm will be ommited

2.6 What is fundamental frequency?

A fundamental frequency is a frequenchy in a signal that cant be broken down

anymore and forms the basis for other freuncies in the signal

2.7 Define the absolute bandwidth of a signal.

Not sure, i uess it would mean the range of frequencies allowed bgy a signal
