Concept Test 2-QP - Class 7 SET A - AK

The document is a concept test for Class VII students at Birla Public School, focusing on symmetry, lines and angles, and exponents and powers. It includes case-based studies with questions related to geometric shapes, tree growth using exponents, and angle relationships in parallel lines. The test is designed to assess students' understanding of these mathematical concepts within a 30-minute timeframe.

Concept Test – 2
[Symmetry, Lines and Angles, Exponents and Powers]
         Max. Time: 30 minutes

Class: VII         Score:

Name: ……………………………………………. Class & Div:…………….. Max. Marks: 12

Case-based study: 1
Ravi, a curious student, is studying symmetry in his geometry class. He learns that
symmetry is not only present in nature but also in many geometric Working
shapes. His teacher shows him various shapes like triangles, squares,
rectangles, and polygons, each with different types of symmetry.
Ravi is intrigued and begins to explore how the number of sides, angles
and arrangement of vertices affect the symmetry of different shapes.

1. How many lines of symmetry does an equilateral triangle have?

2. The order of rotational symmetry of a square is ----4----

3. Draw a regular hexagon and show all its lines of symmetry.

The Power of Growth: A small plant nursery in a local community has been growing trees for a
reforestation project. Each tree in the nursery has been growing in a unique pattern. Initially, the
number of trees was 1. Every week, the number of trees doubles, so at the end of each week, the
total number of trees is raised to a higher power. For example:

● At the start (week 0), the number of trees is 1=20

● After 1 week, the number of trees is 2= 21
● After 2 weeks, the number of trees is 4=22
The nursery manager has decided to track the growth of trees for 5 weeks using exponents. The
goal is to understand the relationship between the number of weeks and the total number of trees

1. Express the total number of trees at the end of 5 weeks as

a power of 2. Working

_ 25=32

2.The number of trees after 6 weeks is 64, express in exponential form.

64 = 26

3. If the growth pattern continues, how many trees will there
be after 10 weeks? Express your answer using standard form

210 = 1024

1024 = 1.024 x 103

Case-based study: 3

Maya and Aakash are observing two parallel roads that are crossed by a bridge. The bridge forms
several angles at the points where it intersects the parallel roads. They are curious to know how
these angles are related and if there are any specific angle relationships that always hold true when
two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal. Working

1. What is the value of ∠1= ------------∠1 = 120°

2.The line m || n, then the sum of co-interior angles is 1800

3.Find the complementary angle and supplementary angle of 600

Complement of 600 = 300
Supplement for 600= 1200
