What is the length of the wire needed? Find the cost of fencing at a rate of ₹25 per metre. [ 4]
5) A field 600 m long and 450 m wide has two roads, each 10 m wide, running through its middle, one parallel
to the length and the other parallel to its breadth. Find the cost of constructing the roads at ₹ 50 per square
metre. [5]

Write an equation and solve:


1) One-half of one-third of a number M equals 6. What is the number. [2]
2) The difference of a number n divided by 2 and 1 is 5. Find the number [3]
3) Twenty-five years ago, my age was 49 years. How old am I now? [2]
4) The number divided by 6 equals -7. Find the number [2]
5) Six times the number is 54. What is the number? [1]
Question 5:
1) There are 40 stores in a mall and 15% of them sell electronics goods. Find the number of stores in the mall
that sell electronics goods. [3]

2) A train is running at a speed of 90 km/hr. If it crosses a signal in 10 seconds. Find the length of the train in
metres. [3]
3) A lane 180m long and 5m wide is to be paved with bricks of length 20cm and breadth 15 cm find the cost of
the bricks that are required at the rate of ₹ 750 per thousand. [4]

Question 6:

1) How many square metres of glass will be required for a window, which has 12 panes, each measuring 25cm
by 16cm. [3]
2) How far will a car travel from 10:30 a.m. to noon at a speed of 70km/hr? [3]
3) From a basket full of fruits, 20% of the fruits were spoiled and 25% of the fruits were reserved for the
guests. The remaining 22 fruits were consumed by the family members. How many fruits were there in
the basket? How many were spoiled and how many were kept for the guests? [4]

Question 7:

1) Find the area of the figure: [4]

2) A Boeing 747 travelled 5220 km in 6 h. Find its speed in (1) km/h (ii) m/s. [3]
3) Pumpkin seeds are one of the most commonly used health foods. A 28 g serving of pumpkin seeds
contains 7 g of protein, 4g of fat and 1.7 g of fibre. What percentage of the serving is (i) protein (ii) fat
(iii) fibre? [3]

Question 8:

1) The king cobra can reach a length of 558 cm. This is only about 60 % of the length of the largest
reticulated python. Find the length of the largest reticulated python. [3]
2) Find the area of the shaded region:

4) The maximum speed of a cheetah, the fastest land animal, can reach up to 120 km/h. What distance
can a cheetah travel in 1 s? [4]
